The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Those surprises are one of, if not the best parts of domaining!

I had one last week, Placest/com, that was a BrandBucket reject and I had it listed on Sedo make offer looking for $500. Honestly I thought this name was no good, regretted buying it, and was going to let it drop next month. But I got a $510 offer via Sedo last week. I couldn't figure out why someone might want it so I accepted the offer rather than risk a negotiation going wrong. After 15% commission my payout was $433 and it was a hand-reg owned for 11 months.

This was my second Sedo sale after Links/biz which I sold for $1,395 fixed price last year, which was IIRC a GD Closeout buy ~$20.
Great sale!Did you park at Sedo?

Buy-to-lease?

I put on recons.com the text:

If you were forwarded here via one of the domains we market as brands for our clients,
and you would like to buy/lease the domain brand write to us with inquiry.

So, after I quote the price and it is too high for the client, they ask how much is the lease or I can suggest it if we are at deadlock. But instead of just plain lease, which is not really good for any of the parties, I offer them lease-to-buy. That way they get to end-load the cost and if business does not take off, then I am also fine to let them off the hook. I give them the option and possibility to direct their money towards growths and success at the name they really want.

In this particular instance, they also started on new gtld and realized it does not work to revert to .com

I have around 500 connections on linkedin + 800 followers on twitter, also using FB domain group which helps a lot.

Before 2-3 week I sold 5 brandable domains via FB group with $300 profit
