I have had many offers and inquiries that went nowhere on various names I suspect most of those were fellow domainers.

I decided to keep it short and sweet. They made a good opening offer so it seemed like they really wanted the name, After the rejections I was slightly doubting the name.

I replied that I had set a buy it now price that would be good for the next 48 hours. The buyer purchased 30 minutes later. So literally there was no negotiation.

Anyway, back on topic of thread, recent outbounds...

Now, I've been directing the majority of outbounds to purchase the domain directly through the registrar (GoDaddy, Unireg). Even though I'm paying commission, it's converting better. Most businesspeople just don't want to deal with the escrow/transfer process and rather just click a button, pay, and be done with it.

Registrars should consider giving discounted commission rates if a domain is sold via a direct referral link instead of through their marketplace. That would be fair, but might give escrow services a run for their money.

On a side note, GoDaddy's new appraisal feature is pretty sweet. I already closed a couple of these sales after directing buyers to the appraisal. This is probably one of the most valuable references to give for outbound marketing right now. Buyers feel paying hundreds/thousands is justified when they have the GoDaddy brand showing them what else has sold and for how much. I'd recommend directing leads to the appraisal when receiving offer/counter-offer and it's on your side.
