Problems, Bugs and Fixes at Afternic - Report Problems Here

Spaceship Spaceship

I suggest a new thread titled Problems, Bugs and Fixes at Afternic - Report Problems Here. Then we can all list our issues so Afternic have to fix them. These Afternic probs have been repeatedly flagged up across numerous threads on here over a period of time, including the need for 2FA. Godaddy own Afternic and have the resources and motivation to fix it - this risky mess is unacceptable and reflects badly on their brand.

For info, Afternic keep reverting some of my domains to "In Review" status for no reason, and I only know that if I log in there to check on them. Until I then ask support to take them out of Review they are not listed for sale and will not sell at Afternic.

@Joe Styler When can we expect Godaddy to take action on Afternic, including implementing 2FA?

Another worrying issue is I have now had two domains sell via fast transfer where the domain has been removed from my account, I have not received a single email on either of these transactions. Has this happened to anyone else?

It is extremely concerning to me that domains can be removed from my account with 0 notification. I'm happy for these sales, but..

Surely they drink coffee from the commission and laugh about our complains. I had a high name of Afternic but they completely ruined it. Scammers

@Joe Styler Yep, the new payment system seems to be broken. I don't know if anyone is getting paid anymore.

I wanted to respond, I had the same problem. Despite not getting paid, I also did not receive any emails. I just happened to notice my domain was missing and went hunting for it. I was supposed to have been paid on the 21st for this domain. I was paid for another domain on the 14th, so I know that I had updated the system correctly after their implementation.

Lol. I wonder how many times HugeDomains has contacted Afternic. All their domains are listed, as well.

Sent an email few days ago via their contact form and still got no reply. Someone put my domain name there with BIN price.

There may be some hope here. Just got an email from Afternic saying I need my default payment setup before payment. Maybe this means it's incoming shortly?

So what you are saying is, I should remove this authorizations for the 300+ names I just gave Afternic/Godaddy auth to access/remove upon a sale? I am not down with giving away my investments so another company can hold however long they would like.

Seems that with new system (TA) the payments are super delayed because of numerous bugs. I don't have any Fast Transfers setup just in case of errors anyway.

I received notice that I should get paid Monday. Only 10 days late. Wonder if I can send a bill for interest.

This new system is clearly not fully operational and should never have been launched in the first place. I don't understand why Afternic don't reinstate the old system immediately (presumably an easy and quick solution to alleviate all these problems), because the new one undeniably needs a lot of work and extensive testing before it's going to get close to the level of functioning that characterized the old system. Paying a 20% commission fee and then having to deal with all these issues is nonsensical.

We had a high level meeting yesterday and looked at this thread and other concerns to make sure these things are addressed. We already rolled out some changes and have some others on the way shortly including the emails correspondence is being redone. We also are auditing the emails we sent since we have had people saying they are not receiving them. We think we found what was stopping them for some people and that is also being resolved.
If you are not seeing your payment you should contact our team and let them look into it for you. When we rolled out the new system we brought over the old payment information through a migration system. Most of the issues we are seeing with payments can be resolved quickly if you go into your account and go to your payment area and choose a payment as a default. This will make the system retry your payment to the default one if you were not paid yet. You can let the support team know and they will track it down for you.
As always anyone can contact me directly and I will be happy to look into things for you. I apologize that this is not going as smoothly as we hoped but we are actively working on resolving the issues.

The buyer wants the name. Please finalize the transaction.

How do you disable fast-transfer on a domain at Afternic?

I can't seem to find an option there for that.

The other obvious quick methods are set domain status to hidden, or delete the listing, or set the sale price so high that the domain is no longer eligible for fast-transfer.

I dropcaught a domain with pheenix.com on February 14, 2017. Due to the domain's new registration date, it is not possible to transfer it to another registrar until April 15.

The domain sold on Afternic on April 4.

I pushed the domain to Afternic on April 5.

I never heard back from Afternic after pushing the domain to them, so I reached out to ask why nothing is moving forward. On April 20, they tell me the domain needs to be transferred to the buyer first. The domain's transfer lock had already been lifted on April 20, but for some reason they merely tell me the domain needs to be transferred, but do not actually start the transfer at that time.

Now it is April 30, and the domain’s 60 day transfer lock ended 16 days ago. The domain transfer should have been initiated on April 15, but Afternic has still not started the transfer (the domain is still locked at pheenix). Currently estimated payout date for the domain is April 9.

Please bring back the old system.

What is the status on your profile? I'm in the transfer completed stage and it went quiet for 2 weeks now

Another weird bug.

In the Afternic account compare the numbers they give for total number of domains in your Afternic portfolio with the total number listed for sale. If there is a difference you may want to investigate - that can mean domains stuck or reverted to In Review status.

But the new bug state I found is a domain that shows in the all-domains view as Listed, but does not appear in the view when you filter for status of Listed.

After reading other people's experience here I was seriously worried I had sold a domain without knowing it - how would I even know it had sold to even start asking for payment? (I checked at the registrar and thankfully I do still have the domain.) I don't want any domains to have fast-transfer status now. But it seems once you create fast-transfer status it is irrevocable - that needs fixing, with a global setting to disable fast-transfer status on all domains.

This would be a good feature to have. Considering the speed of afternic fixes and updates I doubt we'll see it anytime soon though. Here is a way you can disable fast-transfer for all domains by yourself:

1. Download the spreadsheet with all your current domain listings. Make sure it really contains all the listings. It's very important to have this spreadsheet in case anything goes wrong. Double and triple-check before proceeding.

2. Delete all domains manually (50 at a time, since they show maximum 50 domains per page). Deleting them will opt them out of fast-transfer.

3. Upload the spreadsheet. Wait. All domains will be relisted but if you deleted all of the listings prior to doing this, none will be fast-transfer enabled anymore. When you list all the domains again in this way, the system will consider them as fresh listings and send out opt in emails for all eligible domains again. Just ignore those emails and all your domains will be manual-transfer. After freshly listing all your domains again, be prepared for 1-2% of your portfolio to enter "in review" status for days/weeks/months. Manually deleting and re-listing those will get rid of the "in review" status for most of them. A few will be flagged for containing adult related keywords (For example AssetManagement.com contains "ASS"), and for such domains, you simply have to wait for them to do a review.

And yet, if you go to Afternic and search f*ck, sh*t, p*ssy, etc. It will return thousands and thousands of results.

Afternic doesn't allow me to list an escort+keyword domain.

A few months ago, I sold an escort+keyword domains via Afternic (their broker even worked the lead).

Both of these escort names are matched with non-adult type words (e.g. +space, +solutions, +web +network), so I don't understand why one is being welcomed, brokered, and sold by them, while the the other is completely blocked from the platform. There is no consistency with their adult keywords review system.
