So far, in the 2019 Namescon auction, there are a total of 335 domains currently in the auction list.

Of those, there are only 6 8 new gTLD domains.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I also find disturbing the fact that they force you to redirect your DNS to ParkingCrew and in my understanding, if you refuse, they won't even consider your domains.

Explanation:

So do I understand it correctly that
(1) You need to set DNS to ParkingCrew to even have your name considered?
(2) Am I also correct that ParkingCrew use zero click techniques?
If both so, highly concerning. Note I am not sure re either just seeking clarification.

@atinc no I put no reserve, and yeah I agree with you all on Monty asking for them to be added to parking crew. Parking is the number one way to mess up good names since nobody checks the trojan linked ads. I have a domain in .one extension gets over 3k visits every month no way I will park it. I am going to develop it.

btw I have contacted Monte about this and said,

You might want to fix it for the folks who are submitting their personal information online.

and His response was this;

Doesnโ€™t need one - its just a domain submission page

While true not credit card or PP information, it does ask for my mailing address, full name, phone number and more. Without SSL it makes it relatively easy for a hacker to intercept this data and associate it with the domain names, not just selected but entire list I submit. In turn a phishing response email or phone call could seem legitimate as they have all of that information, including your Skype credentials if you give them.

While SSL is no guarantee it at least makes it harder. They could buy a commercial one and implement it easily or even use a free Lets Encrypt. Not doing so seriously weakens my view of the Namescon auction process.

So far we know this much. All of which is troubling.

1. The Terms and Conditions are lopsided.
2. The submission form is unsecure.
3. Parking is required for some people, but not all.
4. The chief "domain decider" lobbied for the New Gtld's, but doesn't put them in auction.
5. The word "premium" is used in an undefined manner, meaning different things at different times.
6. Many domains are from one portfolio with suspected reserves as high as 2 million.
7. The auction platform used was involved in a highly controversial issue regarding shill bidding and insider trading that took advantage of domain investors.

.co.com is not a new gTLD

Actually it is not even an extension.

It's a private subdomain managed by CentralNic.

.co.uk
.co.za
.co.nz
.co.th
.co.jp
.co.kr
.co.in
.co.at

are also sub-domains... and they work .

Looks like Namescon is so amateur, that they leave room for some serious (((:)))) competition.

Yes they are called ccTLDs, not new gTLDs.

In my opinion they could add this brand new GTLD

.co.com

and I am not sure if co.uk is a subdomain cause if I am not mistaken .uk came after .co.uk. but you might be right, I don't know much about this extension.

Do you know any nP user who sold a domain at these auctions? Anyone?

And can anyone tell us if these domain auctions attract end-users or start-ups in any way? Like do they attend to the auction?

Never attended this event, anyone have an 1st hand experience?

Let's keep in mind that Monte Cahn and Michael Berkens are reputable internet entrepreneurs, but I totally agree with these;

Yes, MB is reputable. However, I don't believe he has been involved for many years.

You can't avoid ntlds, it is the future. Many people trying to hold them down. You can't hold back a volcano!

Can't hold back diarrhea either

Afraid of the future, afraid of the way naming is going? Better to adapt to change than be run over by it.

Fortune 500 companies & startup companies are all shifting to new tlds. Hundreds applied for there own tld. Those who missed out are sorry. Google switched to abc.xyz. Who would have thought? That world has changed!

I'm get inquiries every day on new tlds, so do many other investors. Many people are getting very rich but don't want to say it because of competition, that is why sales are NDA for new tlds.

Wondering why your .com sales inquiries are drying up? A shift has happened friend. Think .global, .xyz, .icu, .club. This is the future!

No need to make it personal @imadoer

You have voted so you already know the results. Majority would like to see more new gTLDs on the NamesCon auction.

new gTLDs are here to stay, but do not expect mass number of sales for each extension.
It is not possible since these are generic tlds.

Only few keywords or sometimes hundreds of them goes perfect with the extension making great combos.

Those are the ones that will valuate a good sum of money in future.

@SuzanneChambers the dot com is here to stay as long as we have the world wide web.

The number of reg. might decrease due to introduction of new tlds + scarcity of .com names (most great keywords are already taken by existing companies or domain investors.

But the great dot com domains always valuate good sum of money. And will keep that value in the future too.

On the other hand your examples are true, but remember Alphabet's ( parent company of google) one of the most succesful business is google and it is still on dot com..

It really doesn't make sense to compare new gTLDs and dot coms cause you are only talking hypotically (without considering the other half of the domain name)

If you look at the aftermarket you can see that,

There are better new gTLDs than dot com domains

and There are better dot com domains than new gTLDs

it all depends!

All extensions can co-exist together you are not gaining anything by going into these type of hardcore discussions.

No The company is called Google and they use hundreds of extensions such as Google.ca and Google.co.uk.

Only a matter of time before Google.com is replaced with Google.xyz or Google.global. I think eventually they will just use one domain name name and Google.global is perfect for that. They have already begun to give up on .com which is from 30 years ago and makes a company look old.

Don't beleive .com owner hype that this extension is going well, it is declining every year and the decline now speeds up.

I don't have many new gtld domains, but I do get inquiries on a few. I do think they are worthy of Namescon.

Lol. Sure. NDA is the classic BS line for people who don't actually make sales.

I have sold 1000+ domains to end users and the number of NDA that have even been requested I can count on one hand.
