I've read a lot about outbound domain marketing on and off Namepros. I've done for some of my domain names, followed up, and got very low replies.

So I have some questions I believe will help a newbie like me about Outbound Marketing.

Thank you as you help out.

1. What works best for you - a short or long sales pitch?
2. What's your average domain sales via outbound - 1 out of 10, 1 out of 20, 1 out of 50?
3. Do you follow u? How many times?
4. Who do you send your emails to?
5. Do you make use of your Gmail account or your customized domain name?

Thank you.

Wonderful thread! Thank you @Amzymayor for starting it and thanks for all the contributors for sharing these gems!
I've started to do outbound myself, just a short of a week ago. Although, I didn't sell any yet, I can recommend you the following useful tools:

1) Boomerang and Clearbit Connect for Gmail
2) whoisology.com , mailtester.com and mail-tester.com (the last two are different services!)
3) Talkatone mobile app available for both iOS and Android. It gives you a free U.S. number, so that you can add it to your email signature and receive calls from interested prospects.

Best of luck! Keep us updated on your progress (y)

OK - it's cold light of day time after knocking out that quick site yesterday,

I'm having second thoughts about not using the domain for subsequent email conversations if I receive a response from the initial shot. There are so many problems and scams on the modern internet, that I think that if I have built some confidence in the prospect, it might be better to stay with the same domain through to the sale. Of course if the buyer moves to another of my sites, then I should follow him. In fact, the need for this decision is the result of having multiple sales sites, and some domainers believe that it is better to use one site for everything.

Another useful addition would be a page outlining the payment and transfer process. However, adding all these extra pages is starting to turn this idea into a primary project, and it was intended to be a tertiary experiment.

I don't think I'll add a page about me, I've got a blog for that. I do need to decide whether to link to that blog though - as it discusses my activities with expired lists and drop lists, it may not be wise to let the buyer think about my purchase prices.

The large images for the other domains listed are fine in my opinion, but I think I should wrap a bit of text around them, and include a "call for acton" to encourage the viewer to buy the name.

Nice one at Kuffy. I think you can build credibility like Abdulbasit. He said some of his domain sold because of the trust some buyers have because of his website. I'm considering that as well.

I have been using [email protected] to do my outbound. And I think it's not helping at all. One day, I received a message from a prospect warning me of one of my staff that sent message to them about my domain. I told them I was the one. Then they became cold...as usual.

So I thought, what if I have another website that focus solely on acquiring and selling domain? Then I checked Abdulbasit site and I became motivated.

So, I think you should consider it as a major project too. And, I think Kate has a website of hers too

Thanks for your contribution. But don't you think being having a US number when your location isn't in the US will label you as a scammer?

I've been looking at email contact form possibilities, and it looks as if they are discouraged these days. It seems there is a risk of spam for both the contact and the website owner. I like the look of OS ticket as a means of contact, and I think I'll try that. It opens the possibility of including abuse reports and other categories. Now I have to decide if I will use it for all sites, or just for the name cougar, and where to install the software.

Can you shed more light on the Os ticket please?

Os ticket is an open source ticketing system. It is free to use. I will install it and post a link.

Well, I didn't think about that before. But I'm not claiming that either I'm a U.S. Citizen, or that I live there. It's just that having a U.S. number will make it easier for the negotiations to run smoothly in case of U.S. leads.

I've made a few changes, and I realised that I hadn't added the site to the Google search console. This is a simple process, and you can start it by entering site://NameCougar.com into your browser bar ( use your name of course ). The results page will ask you if you are the owner of the name, and if you follow the links, you will end up with this page -

Verify your ownership of https://namecougar.com/. Learn more.
Recommended method Alternate methods
Recommended: HTML file upload Upload an HTML file to your site.

1. Download this HTML verification file. [googlenh8890fg59b1e6.html] ( altered for security )

2. Upload the file to https://namecougar.com/

3. Confirm successful upload by visiting https://namecougar.com/google916ecc87f259b1e6.html in your browser.

4. Click Verify below.

To stay verified, don't remove the HTML file, even after verification succeeds.

i have a team of 10 who does outbound for my domains. I will try to answer your queries..

1. A short pitch works best. If the end user would be interested and enquire about price than you can send a long reply with all the details.
2. 1 out of 10. Best response i have recieved from Geo domains and sometimes on keyword based domains.
3. yes i personally prefer to follow up only once for all the mails sent. I personally feel that following up more than once would be pure spamming. If a negotiation is going on than there can ofcourse of be multiple follow ups.
4. We can mail id via bulk whois. In case we have a premium domain whose target end user is a big corporate than we collect and send mail via hunter.io.
5. We use customized email id for all the mails.
Nice
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for this... TIP I am highly grateful for the TALKTONE MOBILE APP... JEEZ, I lost over $1500 and $2500 in sales few months ago... just for displaying a Nigerian INFO.

Thanks man!

Amzymayor, I owe you something one just for starting this thread alone.

Still curious to know where the team of 10 came from.
I've got a team of 10 people working for me. The trouble is, they are all me using different web identities. :)

Those were the people handling his outbound marketing
Right, where did he find them? I am curious as I had a few people doing this as well but he had better success.

Now if you could clone yourself you'd be all set!

@Federer has a system in place and he knows what he is doing.
The quality of the names is less important when you have frequency(daily outbound) and consistency...at the end of the week You can predict your sales and make a nice profit.
Not every name sells but if you market 5-8names/day per person times 7 days a week then you can get an idea of what's going on...thus creating a "system that works in your favor"

ApartmentRentalsNewYorkCity.com won't get any inbound inquiries anytime soon but it's a $9 liability that can turn into $500 quick profit with some outbound marketing :)
