0 (zero) of the domains where available *OR* they where priced at no less then $700 per year (some at $15,000 py)
I already regged around 15 .online and still have a pretty solid list of domains to potentially register for $10 each..... I don't know what names you're trying to get, but if 0% are available for reg fee, you must really be shooting for the stars..... which is cool.... but come on you can't expect to succeed. I'd suggest you lower your expectations a little or else stick with the likes of .ooo .how .work and .click (all of which suck worse than .online ever will).

Well said, BRAVO!

I only shoot for fairly premium names.
I refuse to speculate on name given the fact that I will probably have to carry the name for (give or take) 5 years.
$30 per domain (with no discount) for 5 years and that is $150. If I did that with 10 domain names... we are looking at $1,500. That is a mortgage payment.
If the extension turns out to be so/so... maybe I am lucky to get my $$ back with less then perfect names.
If the extension turns out to be the second coming of .MOBI... I lose regardless.
If the extension turns out to be the second coming of .COM... I win regardless.

As far as the other extensions... Its part of the speculation. You win some, you lose some however, I did not pay ANYTHING over reg fee for any of my names (those that are listed and those that are not).
I like my chances to turn a profit even if they may be small. I don't like the idea of having to settle for a sub par domain name is a questionable extension.

Again... we are arguing the supporting points to the main concern.
The main question that I have is... are the registration numbers fudged?
Did ONLINE manipulate numbers to make it seem better then they are?
I have pointed out reasons why I think they have... and we are arguing the finer point of those reasons but not the question at large.

If ONLINE does actually have legitimate domain sales numbers... why have they been largely absent here (on namepros)?
Who (if not domainers) are registering these names?
Why did the registry... pick up soo many quality names (I expect some to be held back but not 2,000 and that is what is just listed to the registry. Who knows what the CEO and the CFO have in their portfolio).

40,000 domain names registered... and the only action that ONLINE is getting is us arguing the finer points of why I think the numbers are manipulated.

Think about this for a second.
I think it seems odd.

Cheers

Besides being 2 days old?
Really???

1. Personally, I'm not expecting to hold my .online for more than 1-2 years, UNLESS they've proven to be a solid investment. I don't even hold a lot of my .com's for 5 years. If you're hanging onto a domain for that long you at least better be turning down decent offers every now and again (in most cases...)

2. It's not gonna be the next .com..... and it's not gonna be the next .mobi

3. What's up with the conspiracy theories? The registry owns a couple thousand domains? So what? It's going to be an insignificant number before long. You may have heard .xyz gave away thousands of free domains to customers who didn't even ask for them?

4. It's been two days, man! Give it some time! Most people are probably keeping quiet on their investments.... :)

We are talking sales numbers...
Who are the first ones to buy domain names? I will help you with this one... Domainers
Where to domainers often hang out? I will give you a hint.... Namepros
It is often the case (especially in the first 2 days that you point out) that domainers will brag about the names they picked up from registration.
It is largely absent in ONLINE. That is weird considering that it boasts over 40,000 domain name sales.

I would expect a fair amount of clamoring going on around here... but largely quite.

So yes... why is it so quite given the large sales numbers.

Cheers

There's a thread for that.

Conspiracy solved?

It's Day 2, man! Give it some time! Most people are probably keeping quiet on their investments.... :)

This is would be the first time that I have seen people keep quite about their names.
Come on man... you have been around here long enough to know that by in large, domainers enjoy showing off their names and talking about them.

Exactly... crickets

more then 50% of the 3 pages are people bickering back and forth.
Very few names listed for a domain extension that boasts over 40,000 domain name sales.

I'm just saying, give it more than two days..... there are a lot of people even here who don't even know it's open yet.... much less want to broadcast the niches they're going for, etc.

If you're one of the first to find gold up in them thar hills, are you really gonna be running around telling people where to look? Are you going to prance around on day two proudly displaying your assortment of hefty nuggets for the world to see? Probably not, you'd probably be busy taking advantage of the calm before the storm....

That, or selling maps to the gold..... which is where the real profit is, of course :)

I see what you are saying. I question it because it is largely out of character for this site but we will give it some time.
I say we rally back here on Monday/Tuesday time frame and compare notes.

I do agree with you about XYZ. I am not a supporter of that extension at all because of the shenanigans that go on there. Keep that in mind however going forward that it is not unprecedented for a registry to do underhanded/questionable means to puff themselves up to look better then they are.

I think (and I have given reasons why I think this) that ONLINE has done exactly that.
Time will tell and nothing any of us say there will change its course.

Cheers bud

Thanks for speaking out about likely registration number fraud for .Online even though it may be unpopular to talk about. Got to respect people who are willing to point these things out when other people are getting caught up in the hype.

I know at least 5 countries who booked .online.as their extension.
Untied States, China, Germany, Netherlands and United Kingdom all booked the .online extension. I did not see them doing that with other extensions.

With advertise.online unless you have advertiseonline.com your only strengthening the dot com.

Not really, times are changing, if you clearly advertise the address as w w w dot advertise dot online

If uses are going to wrong addresses, then they are missing out on what you are offering.

I doubt that the general public will be able to easily recall .online, especially with 1,000+ new extensions coming.

So I agree with @lock's comment that unless you own advertiseonline.com then you may just be strengthening the .com variation.

Yes, it is correct, but the user is responsible for going to the correct address, and the advertiser is responsible for promoting (and making sure) the address properly (ie, making sure that if they do not own the dotcom that the visitor will not accidentally go there)

As for the ease in dotOnline recall, it depends on how the address is promoted, but it is very re-memorable and re-callable in my opinion, the gTLD was just opened for registration so its very early for it, but I think it has huge potential, more so than the upcoming .web ! :o
