All evening I'd wondered where this weird odor had been coming from until the plastic shade on the pole lamp next to my computer desk dropped to the floor with a hole burned through it! Good thing I was home when it happened.. and awake, or was I?

Oops!! One time at my house a towel got tossed over a candle and we didn't even notice for like 30 min until I smelled something "funny" in the kitchen. The towel had a hole clear thru it and the candle was still burning. Scary what we don't notice sometimes :hehe:

My faimly went camping in a pop up over the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanksgiving night my mom was geting our dinner ready and it started smelling like burning plastic so we thought it may been an old dish that we don't use much getting heated up or something. The next day we smell it again and thought it was just the trailor next to us. Then either later that day or the next we lost our power. My dad looked at the eletric box in the camper and it had burned wires; we are very glad it didn't catch on fire! The rest of the weekend we went without power but that didn't bother us. Now we will get it fixed for next time we go.

I put the chinese food in the microwave one time. I forgot about the metal peice and it caught fire (major fire). I was in my room busy on the computer and forgot about it, but I realized that I didn't put the food on long so I went to see why it didn't stop and beep yet and the entire box of chinese food was on fire inside the microwave, but it didn't burn anything. What was funny was that when I saw it was on fire I panicked and started screaming MOMMY!!! *literally*
I was about the spray the kitchen hose on the microwave messing up the microwave and possibly electricuting myself. Luckily my mom stopped me.

Edit: Incidents like these make me wonder why there isn't a fire every second of the day at every house everywhere.

I am guilty of leaving a pot of water on the stove until all of the water was had evaporated...

That could be potentially dangerous..

That happened in the back of my car once, I smelled a funny smell and it was where the light in the back apparently malfunctioned and continued to stay on. It burnt a hole right through one of my duffle bags during a trip to the beach.

Once we had one of those electric lift lounge chairs get a short in it and the thing started throwing sparks, we got it unplugged, and fortunately we were home. If not for the fire hazard, it looked kinda cool, like it was going to launch into space.
