I always moan and groan when I have to open another account because a domain I am trying to purchase is locked at another registrar. I keep thinking I have all the ones I need and then I end up having to open up one more.

I assume it's a security issue but anyone can find out the registrar used for a domain simply by doing a whois so I don't see a big issue.

Nonetheless, I am interested in your response.

I think many of us try to consolidate to one or two registrars for streamlining but it doesn't always work with .tvs being stuck at enom or participants of their premium .Tv program. Winning backorder auctions landing at random registrars, of which I try to transfer out asap. All we can do is our best to manage the mess that is domaining. My most used list below
Godaddy
Moniker
Dynadot
Name
Enom

Yes, except this puts it all into one, neat package. Here you go, on a golden platter. I would like to present to you where I hold ALL of my domain accounts.

Anyboo, looks like someone already bit. Just be wary, I mean there's already many threads where if you are interested in the most popular registrars held by NP members, they are listed in a poll and not tied to anyone in particular.

If you secure your account and email properly there are no security issues.

I use 2 factor and receive an text if anyone logs into my email. I also use 2 factor wherever available and I use a program to generate the most secure passwords in the business.

I use too many, that's for sure! :xf.laugh:

Just GoDaddy. I have a relatively small portfolio at the moment, but I think the bigger the portfolio, the less of a headache it would be to simply keep all your domains at one registrar.

You guys REALLY SHOULDN'T say where you have your domains at, for security purposes.

@MapleDots brings up a serious question that a lot of people, not only beginners, but people that have been doing this a long time and have tried out tons of registrars and maybe their knowledge could help others choose a final location for their domains as well.
With that being said there are a lot of people out there that like to hack and steal and they will take any piece of info they can and use it or manipulate it to their benefit.
I think @MapleDots has a great question that I'm sure has been done before, but needs updated with a new poll or something a bit more anonymous.
Try starting a poll I think that would be better.

Forgot to add.... My most valuable domains are all secured by two factor.

HeHe..... so I guess I should be really worried right about now :xf.laugh:

@urljunky I can take any one of your domains, reverse search your registration email address and find the domains. It's not about the registrar, it's how you secure the account that matters.

I do not use privater registrations so anyone can look at my domains, that is how I like it because I want clients to be able to find me. I have never lost a domain even though all my information is published.

Chances are if I look at one of the domain kings addresses I will find who his main registrar is. Now he has million dollar domains sitting there.... do you think he is worried about me knowing who his registrar is?

I can see your point but we are better off educating users as to how to properly secure their accounts as opposed to worrying about public information.

There is a stolen domain topic on the forum that has some great lessons on how to secure your domains.

I totally agree with you. About half of my domains are private. the other half not. The half that is not private is the half that won't sell itself.
It is not all about getting into your account. If they know who you are and what you have and where it is at that is enough to fool other people when they send emails and spoof your email so now it looks like they are you and everything is where it says it is and the first part of a transaction occurs and the second half doesn't.
Then you see the threads here. "I just got suckered by XXX for $XXXXX"
Spoofing is so easy and makes people feel they are secure because the call came from that persons home number or his fax number or his email.

I did just get an email the other day that said "we think this email has been spoofed it doesn't look to come from that email"
They are catching up to these tricks.
