Those who have stayed with dot US for the past few years are finally beginning to see some good news about this extension , whether its some of the big sales that have taken place recently or whether its the increase in the type-in traffic for dot US domains it seems that slowly but surely dot US is establishing itself as a top extension amongst domainers and end-users alike. For those who have done their homework and stayed on top of their game there might still be a good opportunity to get some nice domains this April, there is a reason that some domainers are successful with dot US and that is mostly because they have managed to keep their faith in this extension despite all the difficulties.

Late to the party here, early 2006, but done ok. I feel like if you rewind .COM 7 years or so to where a handful of people knew how to get the drops and most weren't that interested, it's right where we are now with .US. Back then the early investors in .COM were being told not to waste their money, now they say the same to the .MOBI and .US investors.

Not that I'm implying it will go the same way, but it is an exciting time to be involved with .US names. I've stated my own thoughts on how this could play out before and sooner or later the USA will lose control of .COM making .US so much more relevant at home.

We're about to head into a multi-year period where overseas customers will be paying a USA corporation 7-10% annual increases in registration fees for their .COM and .NET domains, while all metrics of technology cost (bytes of storage per $, bandwidth per $, CPU cycles per $) lower significantly every year. That's going to ruffle some international feathers...

This price increase ruffles my feathers and I'm a USA citizen. What gets my goat is that the USA is known for letting the free market work, but the .com and .net registry are exempted from this tradition. While .us domains aren't effected by the price increase, but it will be interesting to see if registrars also include price increases for .us domains (so they stay in-line with .com prices).

It very well could be a good month for Dot US sales, I am hanging onto my Dot US names, I am seeing alot of tv commercials with the companies using Dot US as thier primary website extension name, I myself have seen a 70% pickup in traffic to my Dot US names in a one year period.

Some good domains might become available next week, hoping to get some nice ones this time around.

Thanks, I have been trying to streamline my portfolio so now I am more after quality than quantity.

Worth noting: wifey and I were out and about yesterday and saw some guy with window sticker ads displaying his long 4 word .com.

Today I asked my wife if she remembered the domain name, she had to stop and think.... "MMMM.... Condo... something... .com"

I asked her, "think it would be easier to remember Condoguy.us?"

She replied with a smile, "yes, why, did you reg it?"

;)

I haven't had any luck as of yet this month, but i am not actively trying to sell any of mine, just leaving them parked at the moment.

Well, I sure hope you're right.

I'm a newbie at the .US department. Yesterday I registered my first .US domainname (DentalWhitening.US) after reading this .US section of the Forum.

Not only do i like the sound of the extension, but when I check the free names, I see a lot of nice ones still unregistered.

I already made a list of some nice free names :)
Hope I don't get addited to them
