Before i got into domaining, i started a blog. It's been a little over a year and i made over $25,000.00 with my blog. http://www.bloggernoob.com/bloggernoob-a-year-of-making-money-online/14/

Anyone else make money with their blogs? What types of websites are easiest to monetize? On my blog, i found that running contests worked best as far as marketing.

PR doesn't mean squat anymore these days... I been making a decent living online, by mostly SEM, for 12 years now and NEVER had a site with a PR over 3.

Edit:
I should say it doesn't mean squat. I don't know...
But a site shouldn't be judged by just the PR.

Not many of us are willing to keep up the work as hard as you have for a full year to get to this point in that time.

I'm sure you will multiply that 25k result many times over in coming years.

Most sites and their earnings have very little connection with their PR.
I have PR4 sites that make $regfee and PR0/PR1 sites that make Regfee+ every day.

BloggerNoob , Congrats on doing so well .
It will only improve in 2009.

Well done noob, I've got a few different blogs and make around $100 a month - a long way off what you are making, but I will keep on keeping on. It's all about backlinks I'm told.

Proof positive that PR5 and Thousands of visitors are not needed to do well with
Blogs.

Bloggernoob, you should change your username to BloggerPro.

thanks guys. i really appreciate the support and kind words of the namepros community. now...if i can just start making some money via domain names..i'll be a happy camper.

but yeah, PR helps, but is not the end all be all of blog monetization. Also, if you can SEO ur site, you can make a lot of passive income via adsense and affiliate commissions. this is something that i am slowly working my way towards.

Im still very much a noob. Hope to keep learning and sharing tho. If you guys have any suggestion or questions, please feel free to hit me up. Thanks all and happy holidays!

what's pretty cool is that i did most of it with PageRank 0 ;) i think that website age is also important so i hope that i can up the income in the new year. thanks for all of your positive feedback guys!

Age is important, but here are some other things that might help you:

- The expiration date of the domain also plays a role in deciding rank. Renewing your domain now for an additional couple of years should help.
- The server that your site is hosted on effects your rank because some search engines take into account the legitimacy of other sites hosted on the same server when evaluating yours. Getting a static IP or upgrading hosting to your own VPS or dedicated server will help, although a dedicated server is overkill until your site is considerably larger.

There are other things that come to mind, but i'm leaving work now. i'll post some more helpful tips later :)
