Is anyone still investing in .US domains?

Has anyone sold any .US domains lately?

Where would you sell them?

Obviously in the .US .com is king too, but I have seen at times .us being used by different companies.

I own and have sold many quality keywords/brands/geos in .US, but they are slow to move in general.

You need high quality terms at bargain prices for it to work.

No, .us still good for investment, I think.

Since Chinese do not invest .us at all, its better to let it go

^ not all of us care about what the Chinese are doing.

.us is seldom used by big companies but it does happen once in a while, usually for geographic identification purposes when operating in multiple countries. It is one of those extensions that really sounds good in theory and makes complete logical sense, but as said .com is king.

I agree.

Investors from China also don't even meet nexus requirements to own .US.

I was told by a domain Guro whom I trust that as a ccTLD .US is the least valuable.

Are most sales between domainers?

Well, i cant seem to sell rummy.us for more than $10 at flippa or even indexing.us which are not too bad at all. I thought I would pay for a sales ad at one of the best if not the best blog in the industry, but was told politely that none of the readers would be interested in a .US domain.

That is why I started this thread to see if indeed that is the general feeling out-there.

Yup, I sold LLL.us (low $xxx) to a company that had a few regional versions of their website.
I only have one more 3L.us (received $50 offer before)

Well if it was rum or index I'd certainly be interested, but rummy or indexing naaah unless it was in .com of course.

100% sure it was bought by Clearly.ca/Coastal which is an online glasses retailer owned by Essilor. They operate in a lots of foriegn markets under the Clearly brand. The sites operate on ccTLDs and run similar promotions.

The sites are geo-targeted for SEO. Mostly they are the same. Essilor also owns EyeBuyDirect and FramesDirect. Perhaps they will use the .US for operating in America. :)

it's a wonderful extension in theory with a huge market but in practice it is close to being a zombie extension.

And yet, there are as many .us as there are .in

While, if you look at the threads at NP, .us is dead/dormant etc., .in is thriving.

My advice is always look at numbers and ignore the rhetoric stuff...

.US has been left abanded by its people since birth who were to busy making on .com's to care about their national online identify.

I sold Pinnacle. I have also sold many in the past in a $5K - $10K+ range such as Carpet Cleaning, Pest Control, CPR, and others. If you own the right type of terms you will get inquiries.

I believe I have good collection of .us names like

Accessory, Arms, Activate, Auditors, Cabinetry, CarFinance, Castles, Detector, Earnings, Experiment, Fixer, Gemologist, Geniuses, Gizmo, Inks, Instrument, Instruction, Islands, Kindergarden, Leagues, Legislation, Manual, Nights, Observe, Pals, Pepperoni, Pointer, Presents, Premises, Profession, Ranking, Returns, Voyager, Worker and many others.

But they don't sell themselves, like .coms do. I will add all of them to GD and Sedo and see how it goes. I expect them to be like .org, they will sell much better with bin prices at famous marketplaces.

if .us is dead

why are new tld s any good?

I would buy .us
But I do not meet the requirements. I buy .ca
I meet the requirements. I believe it will increase in value in time, as will .ca
10 years from now Americans will want .us because there will be 2,700 extensions and it shows credibilty.
American citizen.
New gtld's can be registered by anyone in the world, most anyways.
What are the chances of me getting busted owning 10.us
Is it enforced?

You wouldn't get busted owning 10.us because the registry won't let you register it. they hold all 2 character domains.

I barely see .us used in the US...I dont think it will change that much. I cant seem to sell on flippa rummy.us for more than $10 (!) That should already tell you how bad the .us market is...

I might as well just buy .casino.. better chance there..
