The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Notsol is not the easiest group to work with.

They have the tendency to redirect domains that get traffic to their shady ad networks that they have partnerships with.

You call them, and they have no idea what you are talking about until you show them you know what the he** you are talking about. Then mysteriously the problem will get resolved.

I hope this works out for you friend.

Considering the lack of English knowledge, distant location of the OP, and netsol's historic poor response, I would expect to see how Escrow.com uses its methods into practice, investigate and help the OP in this case. It's not their fault but this is something to show that they will stand up for their customer.

I suspect the registrar. Many complaints are there against them.
My friend John Daly contacted to Netsol instead of me.
And he said

John Daly: Network solutions no longer responds My friend, I have heard nothing from network solutions.

•••
ah, so little.com was stolen, you bought the stolen domain and then netsol took it back to give the rightful owner. in this case escrow.com should definitely be involved.
I don't know it is stolen.
I just paid for the domain name and now, I'm lose my domain and my money...

•••

so... did registrar take domain from you, or did thief/hacker take away from you?
cause is not same thing.

1
•••
Ill say this, it is possible the name was stolen, buyer (OP) bought it, escrow did their job and are not at fault in any way.

Basically it appears as though a thief used escrow, period. Why not look at the whois history and track down the last owner and ask what happened.

1
•••
Before we discuss whether it was a stolen domain or not, you've got to prove to us you actually bought the domain in question. Something is missing somewhere. Is there any email from netsol that confirms your purchase? At least if you can't login to netsol, you should be able to log into your personal inbox. Where is the email from escrow? I will keep seeing your story as a cooked up one until you show evidence of purchase. Forum members should be very careful so we don't end up losing something in the course of looking for what is not missing.

Ok did a little digging....

I actually tired to buy this name YEARS ago from the long time owner John Little.

John continued to own the name until March 5th at least, then whois changed within Netsol to a Chinese owner and not 7, yes SEVEN days later sold to our OP.

Red flags everywhere there but I think it is safe to say the name was stolen from John, resold in 7 days to our OP using escrow.com and Netsol has frozen and taken it back for John.

Case closed, OP learned a lesson now go to bed.

Its now on the OP to hunt the thief down and try to recover funds, escrow cannot help, John Little and Netsol cannot help. At best Netsol could give the OP an IP or something of the thief but still useless really.

OP, bad luck!

Thank you.

Case closed, OP learned a lesson now go to bed.

What lesson he or we can learn? What is the take away?

escrow cannot help

Escrow was used to sell a stolen domain. What should they do to avoid these kind of incidents?

I get irritated when DN.com asks me purchase receipts of each of my small domains even after buyer approved transactions. Now I realize they have a point.

Netsol cannot help

Why is it always with Netsol?

The lesson, do your due diligence! If you used whois history it would have set off red flags, call previous owner to verify it was sold to new owner, google emails, numbers etc. Element of risk in every deal but much can be eliminated if you take care.

Escrow, they are a medium, agent, holds funds, releases funds that is it. Can they give the OP info, I suppose but if the thief was good it will be useless.

Why netsol? Easy the thief stole and kept it within netsol meaning no 30-60 day hold most rars do if transferred out, makes it harder to sell fast. They also sold just in time for an allowance of another internal push. Why netsol, if youre the thief, why not!

1
•••
Holly sh*t man.... this is really not cool. I thought the op would get his money back ... I didn't realize that the seller freakin hijacked the domain from the original owner and then flogged it after a few days to the op... sorry for your loss op. :(

1
•••
...Always ask to see a renewal notice/ registration notice which had been sent to the whois email as well as any payment receipt of the reg/renewal before agreeing to do a high value transaction.

Very important point this. It's a no-brainer, IMHO. Bless you @domainventure.

1
•••
As a relatively new domainer, I'm glad I joined this forum and came across this thread. I have had someone try to hijack my GoDaddy acct. in the past. I'm not a fan of all things GoDaddy, but the two-factor authentication and 60-Day transfer lock, which can be a pain, make me feel a little more secure from fraud or theft of domains. Now knowing how easy it is to be scammed in a purchase, even through escrow, will make me more cautious when purchasing.

1
•••
Could this be possible also? @TheLegendaryJP said there is no whois info between the OP (scammer) and little John. So OP made a fake transaction without really stealing the domain and put a thread here to taint Escrow.com. How about that?

You may note that he stopped responding.

1
•••
I already sent the proof of purchase.
But netsol said 'I would suggest that your client contact their local authorities to address the possibility of recouping their funds.'

I don't have money to hire lawyer...

You are going to need a lawyer for this case in order to get NetSol to respond to you. They have stopped responding for a reason. The reason being there is a dispute over the ownership of this domain. Who changed the ownership details of your account? The seller, the previous legitimate owner, or NetSol. NetSol will not respond except to a lawyer. You will need a lawyer in order to have any chance of recovering this domain. Else your money is gone.

At NetSol. You need to "pull" the domain into your account. How was the domain transferred to your account.

1
•••
Ok did a little digging....

I actually tired to buy this name YEARS ago from the long time owner John Little.

John continued to own the name until March 5th at least, then whois changed within Netsol to a Korean KR owner and not 7, yes SEVEN days later sold to our OP.

Is any of this confirmed by John Little?

1
•••
Ok, must have missed that post ?

So he is claiming John Little himself sold him the domain name. if true that would be very easy to prove.

All the OP has to do is show the escrow transaction to Netsol and get escrow to verify it was a real transaction.

The ONLY thing I can see is someone selling it who did not have permission to but knows John OR the thief used John's email?
Further, John Little asked 49k for the domain and he countered with 15k which was admitted.

49k for Little.com?

John Little gets the money, then gets the domain back, and goes under privacy.

Who is the scammer here?

1
•••
I think, best thing going forward is, "Domain transfer" for high value purchase. This ensure the current owner own atleast for 2 month and moving away ensure you control the domain and no one claim it as stolen without a proper court order. Domain push is risky and not worth taking risk on high net worth domains

1
•••
1
•••
I am pretty sure there was no transaction. Both the buyer and the seller are of same group hence, no money moves outside the ring
Escrow.com rep did confirm that a transaction took place and that the buyer actually confirmed receiving the domain.

Now I think Escrow.com cant just share the Bank details of the seller unless there is court order or something in that regard so I think thw OP is screwed if indeed he is not already involved with the seller.

1
•••
do y'all not see the red flags here. its a con.. how can you afford to pay 33k for a domain but can't afford a lawyer.

EXACTLY!!!! Mr. Smith? I've been getting alot of slack lately on my comment with the "nigerian scam". do you take offense to this mention of the nigerian scam and how this looks like one? Your honest opinion is appreciated it. Thanks.

So let me get this , if I own the domain name BUY.com which cost a lot , and then ask hire someone (or just do it myself) to create a new account on my registrar and act like they stole it from me , and then sell it to someone , as many here replied ESCROW won't help the buyer after getting the money , also NS won't be a help either , so I can just pretend that my domain is stolen so they give it back to me , and the buyer need to hire a lawyer and try to sue that virtual seller ?!
Possession is nine-tenths of the law.....

How if I covered my IP and make it looks like my domain is stolen by the fake me, and the fake me sold the 'stolen' domain to someone via escrow. Once the escrow is completed, the real me starts to make a claim to the registrar regarding the stolen issue and get the domain back. At the end I get the money and still keep the domain.

I always wonder who should be responable to this situation? The stupid buyer?

hmm so where does the $ come from that's in escrow? the fake me? lol doesn't make sense but interesting concept.
