How would you rank these extentions in order?

Say you had the same word in each of these extentions. How would you rank these extentions in order of price from highest to lowest. Obviously .com is the most valuable, would this order be correct?

If the word is English but was also well known in Germany then:

I have left out .org in both examples because the value would definately depend on the word with this suffix. Also if the word were something like 'sex then there is the possibility of reversing the .co.uk and the .us suffixes (population would account for this I feel).

One final comment would be to watch out for the growing popularity of .us, this could soon leap-frog over the .co.uk in the next 12 - 18 months. Just my own personal opinion of course.

I agree with this other than .org. As long as the word/phrase is small or commonly used, I still see .org as valuable. The word/extention doesn't mix but even cars.org has a lotta value, even with the mismatch

This is the stuff of which long war threads are made, generating lots of heat and somewhat less light - unless you specify which areas of the market we are talking about - and remember that TLD selection is a 'horses for courses' business.

Playing along, I'd agree with your list, except that I'd bump .eu to the bottom due to its newness / lac of development / lower public awareness.

But of course you can't really rank tlds in the abstract like this, because any real ranking will vary depending on what's to the left of the dot.

Ferman, I agree with you that "there are lots of thrash names walking around" in the .mobi sphere.

I would go even further - I would confidently predict that the vast majority of .mobi domains being registered today are an embarrassment to domaining.

But you know what, that's true of each and every TLD, including .com - it's just that we have come to accept it and because there is no hype around any of the other extensions any more it doesn't bother us.

I have a lot more to say about mobi, and I'm sure so do many other people.

The problem with saying anything further on this topic is that it would be a guaranteed thread hijack and we'll end up with a .mobi war outside of the confines of the .mobi forum - which would be a waste of resources and mental energy.

The .mobi forum is already full to the brim with lengthy threads on this topic - anyone interested will find something useful there. There is lots of heat in those threads but quite a lot of light as well.

I would therefore humbly urge everyone in this thread to refrain from attacking the new kid on the block, because I and many other people will be forced to defend it.

Thats like saying the only names that fit the .com extension are computers.com printers.com, modems.com, etc and everything else is worthless. People can look up almost anything from their cellphone just like you could on a computer. Why would someone who is already on their phone even go to cellphone.mobi?
