Hi guys,

This should be interesting to see how people rank the various domain extensions. Put these in order of value (most valuable at the top).

Listed alphabetically below

.biz
.cc
.cn
.com
.eu
.in
.info
.mobi
.net
.org
.sc
.tv
.us

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I didn't want to list .de, .co.uk and the other main country domains - just .in and .cn because they are emerging names. The point was to list the names mentioned, not add extra ones and not to group them together... that's too easy - list each one out on it’s own separate line ;)

Plus, if you're looking at just English names for example, it's tough to really evaluate where .de stands because most sales are German names and not English, whereas most sales in other top extensions are English and not foreign language. Kinda like comparing an apple to an orange with .de at least... .co.uk could probably be included though. I figured since it wasn't listed, I wouldn't list it in my assessment.

.com - $1,423,500

The undisputed king. :)

Redleg said:
.net - $97,083

Solid for sure.

Redleg said:
.org - $63,257.8

I actually thought most people in this thread would have .org below some extensions like .info or .us, but they had it in it's more or less rightful spot.

Redleg said:
.mobi - $44,710

The reason why I have .mobi 3 is because it's had only 1 quarter of a year to work with thus far, and that period has firmly placed it past .org for the time being. (name).mobi would fetch a higher price than (name).org in most cases at the moment.

.info - $24,014.5

Still growing nicely.

Redleg said:
.us - $14,146

I think it will do better this year as the LLL.us market got hot midway through last year and more people in the US are looking at it as an alternative to .com, expecially if they're only doing intranational business.

Redleg said:
.eu - $11,515.8

There's few sales of them and hardly any of the truly top .eu's are being sold. The scheming registrars that got them are waiting until a safe time when most people will have forgotten what they've done, and start unloading big time.

Redleg said:
.cn - $10,321.2 (only 5 reported sales)

The lack of sales brings this extension lower in the standings.

Redleg said:
.tv - $5,629

Keep in mind that several premium names were regged out at rates above that, and those aren't counted. I say again, Verisign's crappy premium name policy on this extension has severely stunted its growth.

Redleg said:
.cc - $5,450

With the aid of the LL.cc and NN.cc names being snagged up earlier in the year while previously being unavailable.

Redleg said:
.biz - $4,555.8

The top recorded .biz sale ever is Meningitis.biz. In other words, this is not indicative at all of the upper echelon of values, and .biz while losing the battle with .info and .us, is still a gTLD and worth more than .cc and most ccTLDs.

Redleg said:
.in - $2,247 (9 sales)

When Mails.in is one of the 2 top sales of the extension, you know that there's going to be more to come, and with India's economy booming, this extension will continue to grow and is better than what this may show. Unfortunately, the hijacking of top generics by WebIndia.org and Enom is not helping the .in aftermarket one bit either.

I was just researching some names and came across a single word premium name with the .sc extension. However reading what was posted should I just not bother?

Back on Track:

.info kicks ass! That is the order I'd put them in, although I wouldn't reg any of them after .in, I think they're all crappy after that.
I might make an exception for .org though if I had a charity/big organization.

.info
.com
.us
.net
.sc
.tv
.in
.org
.cc
.cn
.mobi
.eu
.biz

I'd wonder what would the order be if all TLDs were game for this list (eg. CA TV DE etc. not included in the original request) ... feel free to answer here, but I'll also start a separate thread.

I wouldn't judge any of these solely by sales, potential has a lot to do with it. So, whereas .cc may have more sales than .tv or .in, those two are on the way up and .cc is on the way out:

.com
.de .co.uk
.net .org
.us .eu
.info .mobi .tv
.in .cn
.cc .biz
.sc

.com
.org
.net

The rest of the ones you listed stink.

It's surprising to see people still ranking .biz above .us.

Crazy that you've missed out two of the biggest extensions in the industry, .DE and .UK... in that order.

Here's my pattern including these that I feel are worth listing in order of popularity (number of registrations): -

.COM
.NET
.DE
.UK (.CO.UK Specifically)
.ORG

These are the ones that have shaped the Internet from day one... the other's to me are toys.
