Try to get a link from an indexed page that doesn't use nofollow tags. It will be easier for the Googlebots to find your site. Also, submitting a sitemap to Google sitemaps should speed up the process.

based on experience, within 3 days to a week or lesser

it depends. I find that it is quite easy to get a site indexed/rated by adding the site to as many topsites as possible. Keep the topsites for a month or so, and then remove from them from your pages. I used to bring new domains to PR3 within a month or so with this technique.

I believe it can get indexed in as little as 24 hours.

This is what I usually do when I try to get my site indexed asap:

1) Set up an Adwords campaign, in order to show your ads, the Googlebot will go to your site and crawl the pages. It will not rank high but it's now at least in Google's database.

2) I learned from from someone else: Buy a link from a site that's at least PR5 and above. His reasoning is Google likes authority sites and a PR5 usually means that site is doing pretty well. So the Googlebot will tend to spider these sites everyday and that's how you can get it done in 24 hours.

It may not be true but still, the early you get into the Big G's database, the better rite? :)

If you have a link from an existing site that is regularly visited you will get in fairly quickly. Does anyone know how fast it takes for a site to change over after a keyword change? How long does it take for those to filter into SEO results? Days, weeks, months?

I think that it might takes up to weeks to get good SEO results.

That entirely depends on the competitiveness of the keyword(s) and your SEO efforts to come to the same or exceed the level of your competitors in the SERP's.

In some cases you don't have to make hardly effort at all to rank for certain keyword(s) and it would be a matter of days and sometimes it takes months and sometimes it takes years as you have a lot of work on your hands to make any difference if the keyword(s) are very competitive.

It took me approx 1 week to get indexed. submitting them to a couple of high pr sites will get you more chances to get indexed faster.
