Time to index for page using Sitemap (lead time to index) Google, Yahoo, MSN/Live

Hi,

I have a website that is already indexed in google, msn, and yahoo. I'd like to time the indexing (and publishing) of a page very well with an ebay auction. The question is:

Once you have a site indexed in a search engine using a site map, how long does it take to get a new page indexed? The search engines being Google, Yahoo, and MSN/Live. Hours? Days? Any estimates?

Here is an example where the site was indexed in 19 hours (I don't know how valid that information is because this was back in 2005):

Thank you very much

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

this depends a great deal on the individual site / page itself. for example, news sites and blogs generally can get indexed within hours (mine gets indexed within minutes) even if no sitemap is resubmitted/updated/etc. the best indicator of how long it will take is the past history of how fast your pages get crawled.

typically, i'd say that you're more likely to get indexed first by google, then yahoo, then live.

Rep added to you SiberForum, Shokie, the system won't let me give you any more rep points.
We're glad that you're fond of this member, but please give some rep points to some other members before giving it to shockie again.
