Greetings,

I have launched a website 3 months ago and been SEO optimizing the site. Site's google search result has normally been on position ~100. Today I realized that the site was on position 1. Couple hours a later it was on position ~80 and two hours later back on position 1. Does anyone know what does the Google do to my site? How can I benefit from this situation?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

google updates its algorithm constantly and plays around with different setup often, causing listings to dance around at times. you can benefit from a significantly higher listing by creating a better website that caters to the user experience to retain visitors.

this also depends on the purpose of your site. if you just want to make more money, then improve on whatever monetization systems you have in place.

Google updates their algo constantly so they may be different in ranking.
But for your situation I have a explanation. Google tracks individual preferences. If you check you mail and then goes to search your user name is logged in search. Then if you visit your site, Google knows that you like that site.
Then Google will show that site on the top of search results. If you signout and checked again you can see correct ranking.

This is happening to me always. So I sign out from my mail before checking my SERP.

Interesting point sudalk! I will have to test that. I have never had this big variations, a couple of spots but not from 80 to 1, and back to 80!

If my sites move, it will be from 4 to 8, or from 30 to 40, no more than that

Once i see my site on 1# position on google, but then i notice it shows visits and time on right side of the result, it means site is not on TOP for others, but just for me :)

It's kinda confusing, have happened with me couple of times.

Would suggest you : if you can share your website URL and specific keywords , , so that can give some idea ,because normally it doesn't happen .
It also depends on Cookie which you will have store in your browser and login to your gmail account, you should always check without logging into your gmail account and after clearing cookies as well.
