Honestly, I'm not at all excited about Apple Glasses too. The real deal to watch out for will be the Apple headset. It's going to have the biggest impact on the xr industry.
While we all still fantasize about the great potential of AR, nothing being delivered in the next 3 years even resembles any of it. As I have said for a few years now, it is not what they can do, it is what they can do for a price that everyone can afford in a package we can work with.
Most all of these 'smartglasses' will be utility devices. Not that is a bad thing. Just don't expect more than that for now.
The magic of what Apple's model does, requires a good 5G network. While many of you think you have 5G by what the carriers flagged your phone, so far, most of it is not actually implemented.
While you might get some faster speeds, the magic is in the low latency that has yet to be delivered.
They are still using the 4G backbone. Latency can not get better because of it.
So far 5g is the big sell, but not big on delivery and Apple has to wait or it's product can't do it's magic.
I would expect that 5g to roll out 'correctly' this year, but not everywhere. Just major markets.
It will take 2 additional years to fill in the gaps.
And on that Apple VR HMD, I would agree, I think most have underestimated it's impact.
Once again, a very unique marriage of phone and device will shine. A 'mixed reality' type device Being tethered to the phone wireless gigfi @ fully implemented 5G would be tits, anywhere.
No, I do not know any secrets, just my own projection based on Apple history.
Everything they do ties into a fully developed ecosystem.
But... here we are still waiting for them to appear. Pandemic no help.
