Hi all,

A GoDaddy domain broker contacted me though mail , saying that buyer is interested in buying my domain and initial offer he made is 2500, i counted with a range 5000-7000 , but also mentioned I'm open to discuss.

I Sent the reply mail like a day ago
Even after 27-28 hours i haven't received any reply from him,

If something already delt with GoDaddy brokarage, what's the typical time window that they would reply

Also im really not sure how the brokarage works- does only the broker checks and replies to the mail, or does the buyer too? , and does the buyer alredy sets a budget range for which the broker has to negotiate or deal with or the buyer decides the negotiating price.

Kindly share your input,
Much Thanks.

Hey, just wanted to chime in with a bit of advice since you got an offer through GoDaddy brokers.

First off, it's likely the domain isn't from Afternic, which is actually a good thing. With GoDaddy brokerage, the buyer pays the commission, not you—that’s a plus right off the bat.

About that $2,500 offer: consider rethinking your counter. In my experience, when someone comes in with an initial offer that high, they’re either under time pressure or working with a decent budget. For context, I’ve had domains that sold for $5K–$6K, and those deals started with offers in the $500–$600 range.

Also, keep in mind: until the buyer actually pays, nothing’s guaranteed. Every counteroffer is a new opportunity to pivot—whether that means holding firm or aiming higher. You’re not locked in.

If it were me, I’d let them know you’ve had other interest and that you're still targeting your original $10K goal. You could also mention that when you told your partner you were considering accepting a $5K offer, he offered to buy you out for of your half that at that number—because he believes the domain is worth significantly more. That might signal to the broker there's a higher perceived value.

GoDaddy brokers are generally more polished than the folks over at Afternic, but don’t forget—they’re still looking to close deals fast. They’d rather settle at $3K today than wait for $5K next week. Stand your ground if you believe in the domain’s value.

If you want to DM me, I’m happy to take a look at the name and share my opinion—might even be able to figure out who the buyer is.

Good luck either way! ,,,,,,,,,, J O E

Oh—and just keep in mind, GoDaddy brokers are juggling tons of deals at once. While it’s easy to feel anxious waiting, you’re probably on the back burner for now.

To help put it in perspective, just think of GoDaddy brokers like this—you’ll stress less:
🎢 GoDaddy Broker Vibes

Seriously though, they’re not always quick to move unless the buyer is pushing hard. So don’t sweat the silence too much—it’s part of the game.

Just FYI a large part of the world is currently on the Easter leave and that may include the broker that contacted you and/or the buyer; I wouldn't expect any further action until Tuesday.

As mentioned, you'll probably have to wait at least a couple of days, given it's a holiday weekend. Godaddy reps will be working but your potential buyer/client probably isn't. The rep will share your reply with the buyer, after all he/she is acting on their behalf, Not yours.

Buyers in this price range are normally going to gauge their response, so you could be waiting up to a week for an answer, Godaddy will be frequently reminding the buyer of your counter offer. It's usually at this stage that the godaddy broker is earning their commission by interjecting their own thoughts on your counter-offer.
