Just curious:

greeting.com VS greetings.com
postcard.com VS postcards.com
ecard.com VS ecards.com

If greeting.com and greetings.com both are available, then which domain you will register first?

Thanks for your reply

Singular is better.

Both are not available now.

If it were, singular.

In these cases I would go with the plural.

Plural doesn't get along with the names really.

I would go with:

Greetings.com
Postcard.com and Postcards.com, either I like just as much
and ecard.com

They all sound better in the plural to me. Plus the search numbers are usually higher for the plurals.

That is true. The search terms are always higher for plurals.

I think cards as opposed to card would be much better, but ecards, the letter 'e' on the front I think sounds better singlular, as 'ecard' sounds like a product of some kind and is no longer a generic. for postcards if the site was selling postcards it would be great (postcards.com) But if it were say for a blog or something else I think postcard.com would be better.

Greeting.com just sounds plain wrong what ever you use it for, I think it must be greetings.com

Very good question! Seems like such an ez/simple ques, but there are alot of variables to consider. I think plural sounds like there are alot more choices, rather than just one. So, my vote goes to the plurals. My 3 cents, LOL

According to Wordtracker:

greetings 303
greeting 111

ecards 19353
ecard 792

some items people search for they search for plural because they are looking for a variety of something- like, if you are shopping for ONE postcard, you still want a place that has more than one, thus they would search forr postcards, or go to postcards.com first. so you can choose- if i was shopping for a comb, i would go to combs.com because it eludes to the viewer that there is more than one, a variety- a choice.
i like greetings.com better.

I prefer greetings
Greetings is a noun. Greeting is a verb.
Postcards and eCards. You don't want your visitors to think you have only 1 card available.

I will go for greeting.com.

Do you own both?

Greeting

Plus a little known fact... greeting.com and greetings.com are both owned by Kevin Ham if memory serves right. :D

I consider many singular versions as informational, but when it comes to commercial traffic, I like the plurals.

Im going to build an ecard service for users in my country. Some domains like greeting.xx greetings.xx, greetingcards.xx, greetingcard.xx are available (xx is referred to my country code). I can't get all because they charge $300/domain/yr (I know the price is too high for now). English is a second language in my country but I think 80% users who surf the web know the word greeting or greetingcard.

So which one below is on top of your list (remember your budget allows you to register 1 domain only, and the site I'm going to build looks like bluemountain.com)

greeting.xx
greetings.xx
greetingcard.xx
greetingcards.xx
postcards.xx

ecard.xx & ecards.xx were taken.

Thanks guys.

Plural is the better register. Hands down.

I prefer plurals for all of them. Always have. I search in plural so maybe that's why.
