I know there are some goldbugs here! Let's inspire each other with some gold/silver domain names.
I reg'd GoldChronicle . Com for a future gold news site.

Pay.Gold is really good. I would have gotten it. I would have also tried to get others (i.e. exchange.gold, buy.gold, silver.gold, bit.gold, bitcoin.gold, american.gold, fools.gold, etc). For gTLD's I don't really buy, I am only .COM but if I do, I would never exceed one word. I would also avoid hyphens and numbers.

GoldExpert.Org is really good and super catchy. I would actually try to look into having that developed. You can make a really simple one-page informational website and use Gold charts from here and possibly add a random Youtube video.

SilverAge.Org can potentially be beneficial too.

Is it much better than just holding the domain? Do you get some revenue from one-pagers?
Yes. You can make revenue from Google Adsense, Affiliate programs, opening a small e-commerce, etc. and it could make it more interesting to sell than just selling off a domain. A one-page website that's nice and brings in visitors is always better. Even if it's 1-3 visitors per day it makes a major difference than having a inactive domain with nothing else to show (i.e. visitors, history of revenue, etc).

For an end-user looking to use it for a silver exchange business it is very cheap considering that at this very moment the retail price for just one 5 kg bar ($2,959.41) at Apmex.com. Using a specific brandname like this with some promotion will help him to break-even super quickly.
Dimitris - Well that's not entirely true. You know better than that. I am sure you know how precious metals work Silver is at it's lowest numbers and if he sells a 176.3oz (5kg) silver bar he's not going to make much for it. There's nothing to break-even. Lets pretend I had a genuine $2,959.41 bill I owned. If I purchased your domain for $2,495 and sold/exchanged my $2,959.41 bill, for another $2,959.41 bill -- where are the profits? How does that make sense?

Yes they put a very small premium on the piece but it's not enough to 'quickly' break even. It will take a lot of 5kg bars to make that possible. Don't forget you also have to hire someone to make the website, which could cost $10s of $1,000s due to the complexity of e-commerce with fluctuating prices for precious metals -- certainly not an easy task. Precious Metals are not like 'things' you buy from wholesalers to sell for major profits. Precious Metals isn't that toy or phone case you buy from the wholesaler for $3.00 and sell it for $10.00+.

Even though Silver is a precious metal. It's very heavy and cheap. So I would also be paying additional money to send my very heavy 11 lb. (5kg) $2,959.41 bill to someone who ordered it. It's not like Gold where it's over $1,100+ per ounce versus SIlver at $14+ per ounce. You can send a small 1 gram piece of pure Gold with a value of $35+ and 1g weighs almost nothing; a little flake. You and I both know there's a lot of damage control before one truly 'breaks even'. :P

Your example is valid but it is very specific for someone with a very tight budget that counts even his cents. If I were him, I wouldn't even consider spending $2,495 for a name. I would pay my bills, work hard, make sure I have some money aside and then only take the decision to buy the name for this price.

I hope that the one who buys it for my price is the one who has alot of 5kg bars, to build the full business, including the complex exchanging website. This potential end-user I have in my mind and that's why I wrote "very cheap" . If the buyer spends his last $2,495 to buy it then it's his problem for not taking the right decision.

I will consider your thought. Thank you :) I always wanted to do something similar with other of my names but I don't have time.

Absolutely. If you need help let me know. I will be more than happy to help. I am not the best web designer/developer in the world but I may be able to make something happen just so that there's SoMeThIng on the domain/site.

It pains me to admit. Low xxxs.
Mmm that's not too bad. Not many people are registering .hn domains. You have nothing to really worry about. You actually received a great offer. It sounds like you were really attached to the domain. Sentimental remorse.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolo...ches-record-price-for-.co.uk-domain-name.html

"Gold website fetches record price for '.co.uk' domain name

British entrepreneur Rob Halliday-Stein buys gold.co.uk for £600,000 in what is believed to be a record for the top-level domain"

Awesome. If you try a lot of gold/silver domains in major TLDs, you'll find many vacant .co.uk's, sometimes .co.uk is available when even .de is taken (wtf people you're supposed to speak German!)

Hey I started this thread! He is just passionate about gold like me. You shouldn't turn this into a pissing match :( Golds.miami is not a good domain man! Gold and the internet are world wide! With your domain you're limiting yourself to just a tiny, tiny part of the gold sphere...Despite the premium price, I would take miami.gold, but I wouldn't take golds.miami for free. Just opinions

Smh! There is no fire to fuel. It makes no difference with what you do. It's your money and your time. We're just offering a bit of constructive feedback. You seem to have everything figured out so we'll leave you to it. Good luck with the sales.

As I think about it, I am surprised FreeGoldInvestmentKit.com was available. Even though that's a really long domain, it's incredibly powerful. Very very nice.

The thread is about silver too. Silver is just as good or not better than gold in terms of pure investment. Gold is a lot better for domains. People talk about gold but a lot of time it applies to silver too. I have BUYSILVERDIMES.COM. I would love something like buydimes.com or silverdimes.com but mine are just hand reg'd, I picked up what I could.

Those are all still really great domains. There are serious investors of silver and fractional pieces for investment purposes. Many investors, including myself, love variety. When I see BuySilverDimes.COM I instantly think Mercury dimes, Barber dimes, or Roosevelt dimes and we all should know this valuable tip that any pre-1965 dime from the U.S. is made up of 90% (.900) silver.

I have no problem spending $5,000-$10,000+ for a bag of silver dimes. In fact, I know people who've invested $50,000+ in only silver dimes. It's their thing; their niche. They want to have the option of if they ever need to sell it off, they don't have to sell the entire lot versus someone who needed a few quick bucks and had a large silver or gold bar, which you can't really piece apart. I mean, you can, but you can't.

The owner of MercuryDime.com has it on the market for $15,000 USD, which is a great deal. I wonder if anyone would seek to acquire it. There are a lot of serious Mercury Dime enthusiast and investors, and I do mean A LOT. I am personally a huge fan of Barber & Mercury & Barber Dimes.
