Hello,

Just now, a .net domain dropped. I registered a NLL.net domain.
I registered successfully, but the domain doesn't appear in my Godaddy account and its whois shows that it got registered by someone else at the same moments.
But the problem is that godaddy charged me for that, what to do now?
I have contacted their support, but can i sue godaddy for this?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

If you could sue them for that they would be broke.

What happened to you is not rare.

Godaddy will refund you automatically.

Happens all the time. As m-i-k-e above me points out, you'll be auto-refunded shortly.

GoDaddy may not check the latest registry status, but that alone is more of an annoyance. The bigger problem is GoDaddy, and this is based on personal experience, seemingly submits registrations in batches instead of instantly. It's possible you really were first, but GoDaddy held the registration for a time before submitting it to the registry.

Next time use a different registrar - complaining to GoDaddy will go nowhere, since the registration time at the registry is what counts.

In short, GoDaddy is NOT reliable for "must get it right now" registrations.

The funny thing is that the domain whois shows that registrar is still godaddy, but someone else got it.. lol..

@m-i-k-e: They replied me that you will be refunded shorty, but thats really disgusting, why they are wasting someone's time..
I don't know when this shorty will come, i got their emails that the domain could not be registered and then an email saying has been deleted, but still no sign of the refund.
How they will refund?
I liked godaddy, but after this incident, its nodaddy!

Godaddy is not the best

I disagree. I think it is indeed the best. At least the best I have used. I have had domains with Moniker, Name.com, Dynadot.com and others, and Godaddy stands out in many areas.

Out of the three I have listed, I do not have any complaints about Name and Dynadot, but Godaddy prices beat both. I do have a few complaints about Moniker, but that another story.

I have never had a problem with Godaddy. On the contrary, I am currently transfering all my domains to them. I am deeply satisfied with Godaddy in every area: Customer Service, Price, Communication, Hosting, Domain Management tools, etc.

Again, I do not say other people do not have legitimate complaints against Godaddy, but it works for me.

@infosec3 I like GoDaddy a lot too, although I'm transferring all my domains to Dynadot, even though prices are higher. But my point is, I think you are a mug if you are registering and hosting your domains at the same register, whoever it is. Especially GoDaddy. You could get good hosting prices at most cheap reseller hosts, and your domains would be safer. I think also that their hosting is a pita to use, imho.
