I have just read my server log and found that someone is trying to access it using domain name yourcard.online . That domain is registered at namecheap, but not owned by me, however its A record points to my VPS.

Is there anything I have to do?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
May the current ip for you VPS belongs to that person in the past.
You can contact them via whois (non - eu resident).
Nothing you have to do from your side.

I bet you went to their site to see what was going on.:) It's a form of spam. Are they linking to you, or doing a page redirect?

Not linking, not redirect, but A record of my IP address. Result to visitor will be security warning because my server automatically redirects to SSL and that domain is not included in cert.

Although it's very strange, he can't do any harm to your vps or use it in any way if you don't host this domain, so no worries.

I had an almost exact similar situation. He could be using a lot of your bandwidth though with the redirect. My host was very nonchalant about it. Which made me very mad.

In case of extremely high traffic domain it could take bandwith, but it would resolve just to forbidden or some error page, which is not usually heavy by default.
I really don't have idea what to do in that case, maybe try his registrar abuse service

You can add the host entry for the domain name on your VPS and then redirect to some porn site... That usually works!

it's a neglected domain, the domain itself will be expired at 19th July so no worry soon or later it would be gone from your server ip....

Hehe, that might work if he is checking.

On a serious note, if he renews the domain this July and still doesn't change the IP, then go ahead create a one-page site with some content and promote some affiliate products or place some ads. It's "yourcard.online" - you can easily promote some credit cards or paid membership cards. If the traffic is good, you can even try to purchase that domain from him :)

Just block the domain on your vps config or webserver and you'll be alright. The redirect option to a porn site is a good one as well ;)

Most likely what @teper said, that domain was pointing to that VPS and still is. It will probably expire and the DNS will be reset and you'll suddenly stop seeing it in the logs.
