This is what one of my partner said about Godaddy:
BE ware of Godaddy.com

I have no idea at all how did this happened.

I open my e-mail at this morning, then I see a paypal transaction.
I thought it is somebody paying me.

then I open it, and then I see it is a receipt that godaddy has charged me something which I do not know about it at all.

I open godaddy account, it says that I have purcahsed 75Quantities of Webhosting, then I open my hosting panel, it shows me nothing.
if I have purchased 75 webhosting, why doesn't it show me that on my account? that really makes me feel bad to Godaddy.com.

Because I believed Godaddy, then I have opened paypal prepay option as fast for my purchases. but this time I am cheated by Godaddy.
I tried to call Godaddy, but every phone is occupied. I waited almost 20 mins for waiting someone at Godaddy to answer my phone and give me an answer about the transaction. but no answers at all.

I have also sent them e-mail, no replies yet!

I want to tell everyone, that :

Do not use paypal prepay option on Godaddy, never use it.
Because your account might be charged for unreasonable items in one day morning.

I will keep this update,
and I am waiting someone to solve this issue and I want to transfer all of my domains out of Godaddy, and close my Godaddy account forever.

Do you have more than 1 account with Godaddy? Did you contact the billing department? If this was a mistake - they will refund you practically instantly and on the spot.

it's hard to understand exactly what you're saying.

proof please (screenshots, etc.)

GD automatically renews just about any items you don't cancel manually. For instance, domainers went crazy and regged domains in a flurry after some of GD's larger loopholes were found last spring. The saga comes full circle now when the domainers used the loopholes (e.g. regging a domain and buying an online file folder) to get cheap domain names but now are being charged for services they've forgot to cancel.

Even if thats the case - Call the billing department (480-505-8855) and cancel and ask for a refund. Everything can be fixed in just a few minutes.

Couldn't this also be a Phishing scam?
You mention checking Godaddy....and not seeing it in the CP panel
What about Paypal? Was the funds actually removed? You don't mention that!
and I wonder if you clicked the link in your email?
I hope not!

I often get emails telling me I have paid $750.00 for an item I bought
on Ebay....I Don't even use Ebay!!! (and I do not click the link in the email)
Yet when I checked my Paypal account...it never actually came out
it could be just an email scam...be careful!

the question is whether you originally purchased these 75 items as part of one of GD's special offers a year ago and left them as auto renew rather than either manual or you deleting them at time of offer. I find the story a little difficult that you suddenly find these things in your account. they would be in the payments menu anyway. Also just because you have purchased something does not mean that you have created it...possibly not 100% of the original story here?

the story
"story" was definitely the word that came to mind when i read this... i think that too often now people are looking for bad things about certain registrars, without taking responsibility themselves. in this particular case, the focus is all "they charged me, they charged me, they charged me" rather than "oops. i left auto-renew on."

hmm looking at the screenshots....
it is very strange. have you purchased any hosting from GD during last 12 months?
I am surprised GD have not replied to your email.

You never disabled the auto-renew. It's your own fault.

let me ask my partner about that, thanx everyone.

my partner says that it is for paypal that money is out,
and the only thing is strange,
the receipt shows 57 webhosting plans renewal,
but he does not see any webhosting plans on his account, and he does not have 57 webhosting plans at all, then how come there is a receipt for 57 webhosting plans renewal.

---------------------------------
"oops. i left auto-renew on.", my partner does not have 57 webhosting plans on his account.
we all know that, if he needs 57 webhosting plans, he will just go and buy dedicated servers.

he does not have 57 webhosting plans, then how come there are 57 renewals ? .... got it?

Last year godaddy had a loophole with web hosting accounts. Many of us purchased them not for use, but for cheaper domains ;) Your partner probably did the same thing and forgot to diable auto-renew.

Like I said, he could've got them during the loophole.

I received alot of notices about expirations from last year's loopholes this week.

Since when does PayPal automatically deduct anything from your account at a merchant's whim? The only thing I know of is a payment request, but that doesn't take funds out of your account unless you accept it.

I could be wrong. I've never been a "merchant" with PayPal, but I have done a lot of shopping with it since 2002 and not once have I encountered any renew/continue billing options.

I have though, often, seen people have charges taken from their accounts after they were phished, and phishing scams "claiming" that charges were taken.

It is quite normal. If you have either a credit card or paypal set up on an account eg with GD and you have auto renew for the products you have purchased then the CC or paypal account will automatically be deducted. You asked for it. They did it.

GD renews them automatically if you do not cancel the products. Usually people tend to forget about services they buy after some time. And GD makes a payment agreement so that they can charge

My thoughts exactly.
