ESTIBOT VS. DOMAINTOPS wich is the best?
I like both appr. Systems but they have so different results when you appr. one domain name. What is your oppinion about estibot and domaintops. Witch you will choose (when..) when you take a decision to buy or sell a domain name.
Thank you for your oppinion.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
Lets see, Estibot says DNW.com is worth $15k... DomainTops says it is worth $3,241. Hard call.

I made fun of DomainTops a while back because their appraisal system said their own domain was worth reg fee. Now they changed it to skip the analysis and say "Priceless". What a joke.

I just checked a one word domain I have that estibot says is worth $310,000 and domaintops says is 24,255...

I think it is trying to capture nameboys award for nonsense appraisals, so let me check further

For fun I then tried Boeing.com (page rank 8, my day job)... drum roll....

boeing.com:
domaintops: $308
estibot: $260,000

ok, I know the economy sucks and people will never fly again, so let's try poker.com:

poker.com:
domaintops: $28,352
estibot: $3,900,000

GREAT. I have now found after all these years an appraisal service that is worse than nameboys!

An appraisal of the name 'estibot.com' made by Domaintops is:

Heck, I dunno. Ask it!

They've got a sense of humor for sure :bah:

Obviously these services can't really appraise branded domains as well as k/w domains.
I use estibot a lot but only for keyword domains.

Any automated appraisal service for domain names is useless! It's that easy really.

If I had to pick one for any guide, it would be Estibot as it uses NameBio's database. Comparing domain sales is a major factor.

Lol - Domaintops is the worst system ever. It's appraisals are toilet paper.

the price of domains was only depended on the buyers

I use estibots often. It can tell me the relative value rather than the real value.

Also, it has the google/ovt/wordtrack values, which is useful.

If I EVER see a thread with the so called word .. estibot I immediately reboot .. wipe my hard-drive .. go outside and find some extra hard concrete and repeatedly kill myself several times with it .. until I'm certain I'm at the very least dead ..
Yeah, I put up with the headaches ....

DAMNIT .. be right back

I did something similar when I used to hear the word Leapfish. I can only pray it's not another domain appraisal program coming on November 3rd

Haha, that really is funny. :D

I've been using Estibot more than anything else, I guess I'll have to spend more time using DomainTops to make a decision on which one I like best. :tu:

None - did'nt you read the Warning (on estibot) ?

IMPORTANT: The purpose of Estibot.com is to give you keyword data and information about your domain. The dollar valuation is not to be taken literally - it may change, and it is only a quick-look measure of the keyword metrics.

Do not make a purchase or sale decision based on this appraisal

Totally Agree - Josh has done a good job at trying to do something that cannot be done IMO

 I never thought of that...I might give it a try !

I think automated appraisals are doing far more damage than good, if "some" domainers actually beleive them how many potential end users will !!

Agree.

Estibot at least is much more reasonable than Leapfish, Nameboy, Swift Appraisal, etc, not to mention those "paid appraisals" which are less accurate than Estibot.

Estibot also has the decency to have a disclaimer which I find noticeably absent on other appraisal sites.

For sure, gotta give Josh alot of credit for changing how he presented it :tu:

Pitty people don't bother to read it

Hmm...my #1 website they say is worth $32 and Estibot says it's $500 but site is worth $10k. Estibot wins by a landslide. I make $500+ a month from the site.

Let's take another example:

Politicsforum dot com
Domaintops = $39
Estibot = $7800

I am in the process of sale at Sedo for $6750. Hmm...guess Estibot wins again.

Domaintops appears to be incredibly useless. I would let my 6 year old give appraisals instead.

If you tell Domaintops your info about revenue even for a nonsense 30 characters name (with 0 popularity), it will display a price approx. 24 months of revenue so in your case it should be about 12k $
