DomainTops, one of the most established and fully recognized domain appraisal sites is now for sale.
There are only TWO sites in the world comparable to DomainTops.
I started DomainTops in 2003 to compete with LeapFish (and SwiftAppraisal, which is just a joke anymore) – and I succeeded. Now I don't have time to maintain this accomplishment. EstiBot, LeapFish, and DomainTops dominate the auto-appraisal market. Each does the job differently. It's always matter of preference.
DomainTops' Characteristics
What you get when you buy:
- Full rights to the script and site. It's all yours.
- The PRIDE! Think of it: you are the owner of one of three relatively major sites on the Internet that do this.
- Fully-commented PHP code.
- Unused code that you could easily integrate! Easy improvements.
- A list of ideas, briefly featured on the About page.
- I'll strip the site clean of personal info (such as contact, etc) – so you get the most generic and custom site that you pay for!
- No warranty, sorry, site is provided as-is, but I'll likely be around to help you out quickly if you need it.
- My guarantee that I will never release a DomainTops competitor; the code is then yours once purchased.
TRAFFIC AND REVENUE: Nothing spectacular, as mentioned, averaging maybe 400 or 500 uniques per month, but I never spent much energy or money advertising it. Revenue was never my goal. It was a learning and fun experience. You could easily generate revenue from this site. Look at EstiBot, LeapFish, etc, and/or come up with some of your own ideas!

DomainTops' Characteristics
- ONE of THREE sites in the WORLD of its type. It's an extremely rare site in a new but popular market. Automated appraisals are great for giving ballpark figures. But too much emphasis is placed on their results. What really is important is the usability and the information it provides as to WHY it decided that number, because the domainer makes the final decision. Which is why...
- It is the MOST COMPREHENSIVE. Compare the results page of LeapFish and EstiBot to DomainTops and you'll quickly see the difference. DomainTops has graphs, lists of information useful for a domainer, links to tools to make the information easier to comprehend, and even error alerts, in case the appraisal may likely be inaccurate.
- It LOOKS GOOD. What do you expect, with an original design made by A Minor Studios? A fresh, clean design and Web 2.0 features makes DomainTops exemplary against its competition. Results are categorized and nicely laid out. It's NOT CLUTTERED by promo items like LeapFish and EstiBot are, which is another reason DomainTops is a domainer's favorite choice.
- The algorithm is 100% UNIQUE. It has not been released to the public and is coded entirely by me. Is it complex? More than some. But remember that...
- It was made by a high-school student. Don't let that throw you off. I only code my best, and I had lots of fun doing it, which means that DomainTops' code was cared for personally by me, its creator. While EstiBot's webmaster may have a PhD. in Neuroscience and use statistical analysis, I accomplished something similar with my basic high school math skills (Algebra II, pre-calc, etc.) at the time, showing age is NOT everything.
- It works. The code I write works. I don't release it if it's totally broken. Sure, glitches exist. They do in every complex system. It's not really that complicated, but it does the job. Some reported “hanging,” no responsiveness. I found out it was a source website (for the language detection feature) that went down from the traffic load! So I'll be honest, and I'll be straight out: I have since defaulted to English until their server comes back up.
- Easy to maintain. Users can send appraisal reports but only if the system has not detected that there might be a user-generated error, reducing the load on your part! Each error report sent to your inbox contains full domain diagnostics for easy debugging and algorithm fixing.
- The POTENTIAL. Think about what you could do with this! I don't have the time OR the advertising funds to get the site going. I never was able to advertise it... it just spread. Traffic's not spectacular (max 502 uniques/mo, and just 200 this month) but I never did any advertising either. It's worth mentioning that it has over 44,700 hits since April, and remarkably low b/w usage: 136 MB.
