Hi all!

We’ve created this thread to make it easier to communicate with us here on Namepros, and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our offers and products. Please feel free to share any feedback and suggestions with us, or to let us know if there’s anything we can assist with.

We’d like to kick things off with an extension of our $7.99 .COM transfer sale, the code “COMTRANS4” has been extended until 23:59 PST on May 31, and there’s no limit on how many domains you can transfer using the code. Every month we have great prices on a wide selection of domains, and you can find a full list of our sales here:

https://www.dynadot.com/sales.html

We’re also excited to share that our CEO, Todd Han, will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) right here on Namepros in the near future, with more information on a date and time coming soon.

At what day does Dynadot send these domains to Bodis for monetization?

For comparison, this is the process at another registrar, Porkbun:

https://kb.porkbun.com/article/37-what-happens-after-a-domain-expires

The next day after it expires .Even Godaddy allows name to be active with nameservers until after 5 days .

Dynadot is gradually getting greedy like Godaddy and towing the same path gradually. I moved names to Dynadot from Godaddy but I think ,I would be making a change soon.

I observe registrar's early when they start to exhibit a change with their decisions .They are definitely looking to sell when offered big money.

@Caleb Tweed @Dynadot

I just had a name go to their (dynadot) bodis account.

On purpose, sometimes I will let names go to expired status to get the attention of someone wanting it...especially if negotiations have stalled. This particular name was regged (and used) before someone trademarked the phrase.

I just got an email saying they are going to take if I do not accept 'x' dollars.

Dynadot will loose ALL my names if they continue this practice of trying to make pennies from names I've invested thousands of dollars in.

WTF is wrong with you Dynadot?

I'm not sure I understand. Are you upset about Dynadot's policy 1 day after you let a name expire (meaning after it is dropped and avail to hand reg for all)?

Not after drop when available for hand reg...just after expire...while in redemption period.

The domain StartupsCompany.com was expired yesterday.
I'd like to gift it to someone else, but it says Please renew domain name first.
Impossible to transfer away or push to another user. :(

Same thing is happening to me... I keep getting Bodis notifications that my domains that are still in the "grace" period are being attempted to be pushed into the Dynadot Bodis account. (This then requires me to send a corrective email in each instance to Bodis customer service - A real inconvenience when you have a large portfolio!) I contacted Dynadot customer service and they said they'd investigate the issue, but I don't recall ever hearing back.

The cure for this problem is very simple; Dynadot should simply wait a few extra days until a domain is fully expired before they attempt to push a domain into their Bodis account. IMHO, anything less than this policy is simply an unethical business practice.

At least you are getting a chance to send a corrective email. By the time I get anything from Bodis, Dynadot has requested and received the move.

The only thing I get from Bodis is:

Domains Have Been Moved Out of Your Account

Hello ,

Another Bodis user recently requested the following domain names to be moved into their account:

Same thing I get and dynadot should be ashamed doing this unethical partnership with bodis .

How can you tell bodis to start moving name to your dynadot bodis account when an investor owns the name.

Dynadot is so desperate to make money off having their lander on the name they don't own .Seems they think this is acceptable and bodis complying with this demand is unethical .

I asked bodis and Troy told me this ;

"Yes, we work closely with several domain registrars, including Dynadot, to monetize their expired domain inventory. Unfortunately this may sometimes conflict with pre-existing domain owners"

So if this conflicts with pre-existing domain owners, why go ahead and agree to monetize the names ?

Dynadot should simply leave the page blank and stop exploiting the domain owner .I renew names in batches and most times I intentionally let it expire as part of a sales tactics on some occasion and then renew like 20 names at once .

@Caleb Tweed I noticed that emails I send out from the free email hosing service are reporting "DMARC check: failed" lately. They did not used to do that. Is there any reason this has begun to happen? Thanks!

@Caleb Tweed I do realize thsat you are out this week but wanted to inform you that emails are still being sent out with DMARC check: failed which, correct me if I am wrong, means they're likely not being delivered to recipients.

This could be a reason that I am not receiving any responses to dozens of inquiry replies being sent out? Are these email going into a black hole out there?

I realize that these are the free email services provided by Dynadot for our domains but being able to reliably send an email should still occur.

Given this I am not sure I'd want to upgrade to the paid email service as the problem may still be present with that being its the same technology, services, company, etc...

I used a service to run an assessment of the DMARC, SPF, and DKIM on free Dynadot email services.

I am not too knowledgeable about this email stuff but from what I can tell its not a great report and can lead to recipient services declining to permit the emails to go through.

In the meantime I am going to have to find an alterative because I've sent 18 replies to leads, half of which clicked buy it now, and still I have a 0% response rate which I would have expected at least one or two to communicate back with me by now. This is since mid-October.

EDIT: added two additional screenshots from a test email I sent to a gmail account I have. It went right to spam.

I made thread on this. it's obvious dyna and bodis are desperate for profit and do not care for our time and inconvenience to get a few more cents. this is ridiculous and slap in face. for the few cents they will make they will lose priceless reputation here and so many of us stopping biz with dyna bodis and moving elsewhere.

that's what u get for greed. u make a cent and lose a dollar.

bye bye

You can and have a right to transfer your name out of Dynadot during the grace period even though Dynadot goes out of their way to make it difficult. If you need help DM me.

I don’t like the changes in Dynadot’s attitudes and plain old greed reported on this thread this year. I agree with whoever said they are gearing up to sell.

You should be able to transfer away. Select Authorization Code --- Unlock Account (if it's not unlocked) and then Unlock to get the code.

There are lower priced deals at other Afternic FT registrars for blackfriday, in case you're interested.

Dynadot is one of the few places where you can do Sedo AND Afternic fast transfers. It's worth the extra for that.

Also, I only renewed 36 .coms so I'm a big fat liar! :D
