Work with over a dozen registries- never saw such a complicated and convoluted UI

Here is just one example - try transferring out - you may have to wait 7 days to get the auth code!!

Hello NameGroove,

Thank you for your feedback.

Regarding the transfer-out process: the 1–7 day wait time is an extreme case that only applies to certain domains due to registry-specific restrictions. In most cases, the auth code is issued within 1 hour. If you’ve been waiting longer than that, please don’t hesitate to contact our live chat support and we’ll assist you immediately.

We understand that a smooth UI and quick service are important, and we’re actively working on interface improvements based on feedback like yours. We genuinely appreciate your input.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Best regards,
GNAME Support Team

Hello. tld4me,

Thank you for your thoughtful suggestion and detailed explanation — we really appreciate your feedback!

We’re happy to let you know that this functionality already exists. As shown in the attached screenshot, users can add domains to the “My Scheduled Reminders” section. Once a domain is added, our system will automatically notify you via email and on-site message if that domain enters backorder or pre-release auction status, including for deletion types like gname-pre, drop-pre, en-pre, and the others you listed.

This allows you to track both pending-delete and pre-release domains proactively, so you never miss a valuable opportunity.

To activate this, simply:
  1. Go to the Dropcatch > My Scheduled Reminders page.
  2. Enter the domain(s) you wish to track.
  3. Submit the form.

Once submitted, you’ll be alerted promptly when these domains become available, whether by backorder or pre-release auction.

If you have any further ideas or need clarification, feel free to reach out. We're always improving based on user insight like yours!

Best regards,
GNAME Support Team
Great! Thank you for the information and for letting me know the same area also works for pre-release auctions.

Hello tld4me,

Thank you for taking the time to share this detailed feedback — we completely understand your concern. Due to current system limitations, the most accurate auction price is only fully revealed after joining the auction.

Regarding your point on bid increments, the bid increment logic currently varies based on internal pricing tiers and auction dynamics. We are in the process of updating our help center and auction interface to include clearer rules and examples explaining how bid increments are calculated.

We truly appreciate your patience and your contribution to helping us improve. Your feedback is being reviewed by our product team, and we aim to roll out updates soon that will make the experience clearer and more consistent for all users.

Thanks again for helping us make GNAME better!

Best regards,
GNAME Support Team
@GNAME.COM I've highlighted and underlined part of your response. This is certainly a big issue. I get what your company is doing is complicated. I wouldn't want the task of building one of my company's largest features on the backs of other companies. They make changes to their auction platforms, then you have to make changes to keep up, etc. It opens up the potential for a lot of problems... like this one.

However, this is the business model you have chosen. If you are charging customers to join an auction, telling the customer an auction is currently bidding at $78.69, the customer pays you believing this information is true, then finds out the auction is actually bidding in the range of $20,000.00... How is that an ethical (or legal) business practice?

@jberryhill do you have any opinions on the legality of this?

It sounds like a violation of the Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003 or CPFTA.

If "system limitations" prevent Gname from displaying the true auction price until you have joined the auction, then they shouldn't be displaying an inaccurate price to induce you to pay to join the auction. It's false advertising, straight up, no excuse.

To understand more about the Singaport CPFTA, you can learn about how to report GName to the appropriate authorities here:

https://www.cccs.gov.sg/consumer-protection/fair-trading-practices/

In fact, the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore has a lengthy publication on price transparency:

https://isomer-user-content.by.gov..../CCCS Guidelines on Price Transparency_HR.pdf

The CCCS provides contact information and resources on where you can submit a complaint concerning this deceptive practice of Gname blaming "system limitations" for providing false auction pricing information.

Hello tld4me,

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We understand the importance of transparency and trust in an auction, and we appreciate your feedback.

Regarding the issue you raised about the displayed bidding price, we have responded promptly to help prevent further misunderstandings:

For the auctions you have not joined:

On the auction detail page, we have updated the label from “Current Bid” to “Starting Bid” to avoid confusion.

A clear notice has been added:

“This price is not the real-time price.”

We have also included a message at the bottom of the bidding section:

“Only if you participate in the auction will the system display the latest bid price. The starting bid is not the current real-time price. Please be informed!”

We understand the importance of having accurate and timely information, especially when payment is required to join. These updates are designed to clarify that the displayed price is a static reference unless you actively participate in the auction, at which point real-time bidding data becomes available.

Thank you once again for highlighting this issue, your feedback directly contributed to an improvement that benefits all users. If you have any further suggestions or ideas for improvement, please do not hesitate to share with us.

Best regards,
Gname Support Team

If I understand Gname's backordering correctly:

1. When you win a domain, it might actually be registered at a different registrar -- even ones affiliated with Network Solutions. But it's managed through the Gname interface. Is this correct?

2. Even when Gname doesn't capture a backorder, it sends it to auction, basically placing bids on the other platforms (DropCatch, SnapNames) on your behalf, but not showing that this is the case.

Thanks. Both are kind of weird. #2 is super weird and misleading.
However, it becomes visible to you once the bidding is on their platform i believe?
