OINK! Hello to everyone here at NamePros, I’m happy to be joining y’all. My name’s Eddie and as the title suggests this will be our official thread here for funneling announcements, questions, feedback, and anything else folks want to talk about. I or someone else on the team will be checking regularly and being as responsive as possible.

And of course, if you need help with your Porkbun account, you can reach our support team (including me) 9 am to 5 pm PST seven days a week at [email protected], 855-767-5286, or by clicking the “Help” icon on our site to start a live chat.

Many domainers have strongly recommended PorkBun. My 1 year with them was meh. They have excellent pricing. Their CS is responsive, but slow (no chat). Their UI is basic and lacks functionality to make things simple. When I've made suggestions to Dynadot, Spaceship, or Unstoppable - they have implemented those suggestions that make life easier for domainers.
PorkBun hasn't implement one single suggestion and thus still lacks basic functionality that is core to how large domainers manage their names.

For example:
1- There are no NS presets. We are required to type NS manually for each change.
2- There is no bulk addition or removal of marketplace listings. And if you have listed in the marketplace, PorkBun refuses to push or transfer your name until it is manually removed (1 at a time). Although someone recently showed me a workaround using a csv upload, these sorts of hacks shouldn't be required.
3- The UI requires too many clicks and is generally slow. When you find a name you must click into it before seeing any of the change options. Takes 4-5 secs to load this area. Not a big deal when you're dealing with one or two names. Now multiply that delay by 1,000s

I hope PB listens a bit more to domainers. A roadmap would be nice too

There's a bug where if an auth code contains an ampersand character (&), the transfer will fail and a new code will have to be regenerated. I'm guessing it's probably an encoding issue somewhere in your code (i.e. a case of using & instead)

Although it's possible it could instead be a Dynadot issue as that's the only registrar I've transferred to. But it might be something you want to check out.

I second this.

I love the fact that Porkbun is part of both the Fast Transfer network and SedoMLS, and has great prices & frequent offers. However a template system is sorely missing where nameservers and TXT record profiles can be modified at the click of a button.

Also, an API that allows you to register domains via code like Dynadot would be handy.

Thirdly, is there any chance we can get automatic Afternic confirmation requests when domains under the 60-day ICANN lock period are now eligible, again like Dynadot.

We certainly appreciate the feedback. Part of why we are active here on NamePros is to hear directly from domainers and we've added many features at the request of them, such as additions to our bulk management tools and faster versions of our UI such as the simplified view.

I wanted to clarify that we do have chat, we have had it for years (I used to work our weekend support chats). Availability is admittedly spotty and we're continuing to hire in support to get more live support availability.

1. We do have the ability to set default nameservers for new registrations, this is in your account settings. I think you're specifically looking to have multiple sets you can choose from, I'll get it added to the feature requests.
2. I believe bulk delisted got rolled out last week as a direct result of your post, so thanks for the push on that.
3. Have you reviewed the alternate domain management layouts such as utilitarian? That was specifically made from feedback here on NamePros.

I'm afraid an API for registering domains is unlikely to develop. It pushes us into a reseller model which has additional requirements and also changes some of our registry relationships, plus we also lose control of the customer relationship with this a bit. Maybe in another 5 or 10 years the story will be different.

I'm not entirely sure which confirmation requests you're talking about, like just a notice that the 60 days is up and you can opt it into fast transfer?

Yeah, Dynadot for example sends an email once per day, listing the domains that have become available for enrollment.

The process is automatic so that you don't have to go to Afternic and manually request submission for each one.

Thanks for listening and responding.
Good to know you're working to add more CS personnel for faster responses.
1. Yes, I specifically am requesting the ability to choose from pre-saved NS so we can manage NS changes more readily. For large folios - it is cumbersome without this feature.
2. Glad to hear you got bulk delisted rolled out. I see it now within the bulk options. Is there any way to sort by names listed in the marketplace (so I can bulk delist those that show)? Without being able to sort by those that are listed - not sure how useful the bulk delisting is (although I suppose I could just choose all).
3. I am set to "simplified view". And it's still as slow as I previously stated. Is there a view that is even faster than this?

Is it just me or do ACH transfers to Porkbun take too long for you as well?

Yeah, mine take a number of days. But I am international and do them through Wise, so I assume that's just the way it is.

I'm in the U.S., where the Pony Express, in the 1860s, took ten days to deliver cross country. Today, my ACH delivery by pig took 11 days. Again.
And, Porkbun is in my west coast time zone. Pigs do get greedy.

Ouch, that is rather excessive. I wonder if their system has trouble picking up incoming transfers and some of them don't get credited until someone checks things manually. If that's the case, they really need to be checking a lot more often.
