Hi all!

We’ve created this thread to make it easier to communicate with us here on Namepros, and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our offers and products. Please feel free to share any feedback and suggestions with us, or to let us know if there’s anything we can assist with.

We’d like to kick things off with an extension of our $7.99 .COM transfer sale, the code “COMTRANS4” has been extended until 23:59 PST on May 31, and there’s no limit on how many domains you can transfer using the code. Every month we have great prices on a wide selection of domains, and you can find a full list of our sales here:

https://www.dynadot.com/sales.html

We’re also excited to share that our CEO, Todd Han, will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) right here on Namepros in the near future, with more information on a date and time coming soon.

Dynadot is an ICANN accredited domain name registrar and web host headquartered in San Mateo, California. Founded in 2002 by a software engineer, our primary focus is engineering and design excellence. Our custom written, state-of-the-art domain and hosting software is stable, fast, and easy to use. From humble beginnings, we have grown steadily and now are home to over 2.6 million domains.

Our goal is to provide our customers with world class registration and hosting services for a reasonable price. Most of our site is fully automated, allowing us to offer some of the lowest prices in the industry. At the same time we strive to provide excellent customer service, and helpful responses to all questions. If anything is not to your satisfaction, feel free to contact us, and we will do our best to resolve the situation.

We individually respond to every email we receive - no cut and paste responses. Customer service is handled by highly trained customer service representatives that work closely with our software engineers, so you are likely to get an intelligent response to your question.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
AfternicAfternic
Dynadot is one of the few places where you can do Sedo AND Afternic fast transfers. It's worth the extra for that.

Also, I only renewed 36 .coms so I'm a big fat liar! :D

Sedo FT doesn't get you more marketing. Only Afternic does. As such, even Namecheap (who is solely Afternic FT and not Sedo) is just fine, esp when a sig transfer sale comes around). Don't get me wrong, I like Dyna as well - but gotta save money sometimes

You can and have a right to transfer your name out of Dynadot during the grace period even though Dynadot goes out of their way to make it difficult.

This is the single thorny issue that prevents me from keeping more domains at Dynadot. It's a giant insult to their loyal customers. And now the Bodis thing.

I look for registrars that don't play games. And create an atmosphere of trust.

Sorry I said fast transfer but I actually meant their MLS. The companies using MLS might be the exact same ones using Afternic's affiliate program but I feel like that isn't always the case as I have had a few MLS sales and I am pretty sure one came through Namecheap.

I actually thought Namecheap and GoDaddy fight and once or twice a year, Afternic domains stop showing up in Namecheap's domain search either because GD gets mad or Namecheap does. So far that hasn't happened with Dynadot as far as I know.

And I definitely do have domains registered elsewhere as you have said, there are cheaper alternatives. But for me, it's a lot of clicking and copy pasta involved with a transfer so I'd rather do that from Sav>Spaceship than Dynadot to somewhere else when I am only saving $1.

Hey Everyone,

Finally back from vacation, thanks for your patience with me while I'm off. I will say, for the past two years I have manned our NamePros presence exclusively, and our Dynadot account is now unresponsive, and I have not used it as a backup so users would not tag it in the future expecting it to respond. This had not been an issue in the past two years, but I can see how problems can arise when we don't have someone active, so I'll make sure I have coverage for my next time off. Please give me a moment to play catch-up on your posts.

Regarding the Bodis discussion:

So I completely understand why you may have some anxiety over this, but in short, there has been absolutely no change on the user's end for how the expired domain operates. Dynadot, and almost all other Registrars, monetize expired domains with parking providers. We recently added Bodis as a parking service we use. The only difference that you might see is if you were using Bodis on your domain and it expires, they will send you an email saying the domain is removed from your account. Other parking providers we have used in the past don't have this specific notification, which is why this hasn't come up before. That is completely normal, as the domain DNS is changed when the domain enters from active/registered to expired status. Upon renewal of the domain in the Grace Period, you can continue managing your domain. When the domain is active again, the DNS will revert back to it's previous settings, and it should show in your BODIS account again.

We've always been very open about our monetization practices. You can see both the visitors and revenue of expired domains on our expired auctions page, in order to help potential bidders valuate domains.

I do see the point in that other Registrars may be a bit more lenient when exactly the NS stop working and monetization starts, I will discuss with our team how we can address/potentially change that.

Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'm more than happy to address any concerns you might have.

@Caleb Tweed I do realize thsat you are out this week but wanted to inform you that emails are still being sent out with DMARC check: failed which, correct me if I am wrong, means they're likely not being delivered to recipients.

This could be a reason that I am not receiving any responses to dozens of inquiry replies being sent out? Are these email going into a black hole out there?

I realize that these are the free email services provided by Dynadot for our domains but being able to reliably send an email should still occur.

Given this I am not sure I'd want to upgrade to the paid email service as the problem may still be present with that being its the same technology, services, company, etc...

I used a service to run an assessment of the DMARC, SPF, and DKIM on free Dynadot email services.

I am not too knowledgeable about this email stuff but from what I can tell its not a great report and can lead to recipient services declining to permit the emails to go through.

In the meantime I am going to have to find an alterative because I've sent 18 replies to leads, half of which clicked buy it now, and still I have a 0% response rate which I would have expected at least one or two to communicate back with me by now. This is since mid-October.

EDIT: added two additional screenshots from a test email I sent to a gmail account I have. It went right to spam.

Are you still experiencing this? Let me check with our email hosting team to investigate. In the mean time, could you please DM me your username and the domain in question so I can have the team check it's settings as well/see if this is a domain specific issue? Thanks!

As far as I can tell its still occurring. These are the free emails. Happening on two that I know of. Was going to purchase the full with the discount/sale but not sure if that email is doing the same. Will send DM now... Thank you!

Is that something new/necessary? I don't see other registrar charging that when I use Paypal...

as said on my thread bodis doesn't auto readd renewed names which causes chaos and wasted time for trillions of people. all this at the expense of u making few cents on our parked names. this is negligence and greed of highest order. to disrespect people time so u can make cents. and or potential money desperation of dyna.

also stop normalizing u parking our names as some obvious thing. cause u have not been doing It for years but for weeks. its zero normal and all greed

Per the PayPal User Agreement, merchants are not allowed to apply a surcharge... this is clearly wrong and should be reported to PayPal.

Anybody from Dynadot care to respond?

Just stumbled upon it. Bad move in my opinion.

That extra 2.5% to use PayPal sounds quite ugly to me.

I've got about 85% of my domains with Dynadot, (so a happy customer) but this will definitely make me consider other options for 2025.

Hello, just wanted to say I hear your comments on the Paypal change, just waiting for some confirmation on a few things before I posted anything "Official". (being away for two weeks leaves you a playing catch-up for a bit). Should have something for you tomorrow or the next day!

Oh.. wow, 2,5%. It's sound like gname now.
i just got my bulk level to save some pennies

NameBright charges 3% to reload account balance using PayPal, has done this for years.

But then when renewing with account balance you're getting a discount, so it's basically a wash.

So Dynadot superbulk tier starts for $5K spend, what about $50K spend, or $100K spend, why not create higher tiers?
