Hi all!

We’ve created this thread to make it easier to communicate with us here on Namepros, and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our offers and products. Please feel free to share any feedback and suggestions with us, or to let us know if there’s anything we can assist with.

We’d like to kick things off with an extension of our $7.99 .COM transfer sale, the code “COMTRANS4” has been extended until 23:59 PST on May 31, and there’s no limit on how many domains you can transfer using the code. Every month we have great prices on a wide selection of domains, and you can find a full list of our sales here:

https://www.dynadot.com/sales.html

We’re also excited to share that our CEO, Todd Han, will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) right here on Namepros in the near future, with more information on a date and time coming soon.

Some questions about the Add Lead function:

Given that the domain is unlocked as soon as we submit the add lead form, is there any protection for the unlocked domain between the time the form is submitted and the lead hopefully makes their payment? Leads can sometimes take a long time to make decisions with little to no communication usually.
So the domain is only unlocked (and manually by the seller at that) when the sale is confirmed and the domain is pushed...I agree I think that Note is a bit misleading, let me have the team correct it.
Is there a broker at Dynadot who is assigned to the transaction and handles communication for us or is it more like a mediation where both sides are asked to respond with little or no intervention from Dynadot?
While we do have a brokerage service, right now it's only for domains purchased with our "Make an Offer" program. We will introduce it down the line to our other marketplace services though, but we haven't gotten the logistics down of how we'll work it just yet.

So @Caleb Tweed ,does Dynadot have a deal with bodis , where when a name expires on a first day ,they contact bodis to remove from the domain owners parking account and into Dynadot account with them ?

Dynadot then put a parking lander on the domain owners domain name. What happens when the owner renews the name and they get a UDRP about the parking displayed by Dynadot which may display ads that could lead to a UDRP?

To avoid this,I advise owners to renew their names but most sellers wait some days or weeks to renew and some, days.Names sell when expired and buyers go back to renew.

Please can you provide answers to my questions .

Thank you

Hi @Dynadot. Does this error mean anything to you? Interestingly, I’m having issues changing nameservers on @GoDaddy, too, at the moment.

Let's be honest...incredible is a bit of a stretch.

You've got one higher rated competitor rumored to have a pretty good transfer and renewal rate coming (.com). Hope your boss will at least counter their offer or for the first time I will have to move names out of Dynadot.

Maybe when you return you can bring this to the attention of price setters.

Hey, Sorry for the wait, was waiting on some internal answers (of which I have one so far)

I know we're affiliated with Bodis, but I'm not sure of the specifications of that are...waiting on an answer for this one.
Dynadot then put a parking lander on the domain owners domain name. What happens when the owner renews the name and they get a UDRP about the parking displayed by Dynadot which may display ads that could lead to a UDRP?
So I chatted with my abuse team about this, but it sounds like we've never received a UDRP for an expired domain (or at least have the process started while the domain's expired).

But if we received a UDRP for an expired domain and were asked to confirm that the parking page was set as part of our expiration process and not at the request of the user, we would do so.

Hope this helps, I'll hopefully have an answer to your first question when I'm back!

Hear you loud and clear on the Black Friday sales, I talked to my team and it looks like we'll be adding some Renewal and Transfer discounts! We should have them finalized on the lander and ready for Black Friday next week.

It's not just that period that matters. In recent cases, attorneys have provided screenshots from years ago to demonstrate that a domain or website previously ONCE displayed advertisements related to their brand.

Why not leave the expired domain page blank? Why take advantage of a name that is still technically owned by the seller and not exploit by making money off of it ?

You are going to cost seller more harm because the UDRP goes to seller when name is renewed eventually and not Dynadot .

Just leave the page blank with maybe your dynadot logo just like namebright does .

Is this part of your TOS to do as you please by monetization of expired names ?

@Caleb Tweed I noticed that emails I send out from the free email hosing service are reporting "DMARC check: failed" lately. They did not used to do that. Is there any reason this has begun to happen? Thanks!

@Caleb Tweed @Dynadot

I just had a name go to their (dynadot) bodis account.

On purpose, sometimes I will let names go to expired status to get the attention of someone wanting it...especially if negotiations have stalled. This particular name was regged (and used) before someone trademarked the phrase.

I just got an email saying they are going to take if I do not accept 'x' dollars.

Dynadot will loose ALL my names if they continue this practice of trying to make pennies from names I've invested thousands of dollars in.

WTF is wrong with you Dynadot?

At what day does Dynadot send these domains to Bodis for monetization?

For comparison, this is the process at another registrar, Porkbun:
Not sure, you can find that info on their site I assume.

I maintain a porkbun account for a specific reason. Although I appreciate the link, their expiration process does not ever come into play.
