I have been waiting for Black Friday promos from Dotster and Netfirms.

Are they reputable registrars?

How is their support?

Is it easy to transfer out if you sell?

Any opinions would be great.

Thanks

- from time to time they lower the price of coms and nets to $2 and you can reg as much as you want + you can spend even less with coupons
- support is good
- to push a domain you have to contact the support, they deleted the push function from the interface :Z

support sucks.... pain in the ass to push a domain not hard to transfer out. i would use them only when other registrars don't have promos. right now you can get names at Enom for 1.98...

Dotster support is Garbage with a capital G. Price is good on their discount days though. Pushes can be a pain.

So, is it worth it to reg domains with them when they are offered at $2, or is it not worth it because of possible problems later when you sell a domain and try to push or transfer to seller?

What do you think?

To be fair I have well over 100 names with them. Their prices are good for the $2 promos. Pushing a name requires the buyer's security answer which I dislike and can be problematic for transactions.

For $2 I can deal with those issues. The support is bad and I don't like dealing with them if I can avoid it.

my first domains on netfirms are going to go into expired mode soon.. just some promo regs etc..

was wondring if someone who been with them longer can talk abotu their grace period.. how long.. whether I can push at no extra fee to someone during grace.. and if I can get auth code and transdfer out during grace for no charge also (like godaddy etc).

the rep told me yes to all above.. and for 30-35 days past expiry
but there is nothing like hearing this from mouth of another domainer than just some dude there to sell you a product. so.... ne1 here already went past expiry dates with netfirms/dotsteR?

thanks!
