Dot mobi aftermarket prices after this weeks auctions.

If the auctions roll out as expected with several high dollar sales for the premium dot mobis, how much would that effect the present aftermarket prices. If there are one or two sales in the 500k range that might cause the rest of the dot mobis to increase several folds overnight, and those prices might increase even more with each subsequent successful auction of premium dot mobis that are planed for the next couple of years.

Reality check. I think good .mobis will benefit, but will have little or no effect on bad .mobis. Just because Realestate, pizza and/or singles.mobi sells well really has little or no effect on the value of supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.mobi. (before you snicker, it has an OVT of 10k and yes, I own it strictly for fun) Strong sales this early in the life of .mobi are great sign and we all enjoy seeing them but your hopes of increasing the rest of .mobis several fold overnight is unrealistic.

Nor is this reality isolated to .mobi. Just because Branson.com sold for 1.6 million doesn't mean podunktown.com is worth any more as a result.

This, I'm quite sure, has been well thought out and calculated from the beginning IMHO ... that further registrations and after-market trading valuations shall generally increase with the news and hype of the sales at these such events, IMHO. :talk:

For me, though, the sales dollars don't mean as much to me as the acquiring End users and their specific, near-term plans to develop and join the "ecosystem", IMHO. :gl:
I'm looking for more substance this time around ... I guess would be my overall summation.
Thanks for listening, and all the best!

Yes, it would be really sad to have a parking page for RealEstate.mobi a year from now.

We all keep seeing a lot of mediocre dot coms sell for 1 to 5k every week at DN Journal, so what I am trying to say is that after this week you might not be able to find any $75.00 dot mobis anymore and there might come a time that any dot mobi worth listing wonโ€™t be less than $500.00

Yes, if strong sales and development continues at a steady pace for the next few years then that could be a reality. But it won't happen overnight.

Well it seems that dot mobi is on an accelerated course, because no one expected six figure sales for the other new extensions within the first six months of their release.

It would break my heart, IMHO. :'(

It does not seem that "Flowers.mobi" has progressed any, as well. Personally, I consider the .MOBI to inherently be playing catch up already, so time is of the essence (ie., less than 3 months) to get these into the hands of developers of unique and compelling websites and real-world, known End users of similar ilk! :talk:

The "ecosystem" :!: would have been better off with a reasonable mid-$X,xxx - low $XX,xxx sale of Flowers.mobi to, say, 1800Flowers.com, or whomever End user it was that was supposedly in attendance and bidding at the last Show in my view. I'm speaking for the ecosystem more than I'm speaking against any one domain, extension, bidder(s) or individual(s), as well.

I don't think that a lower price would be better but it would be nice to see a stronger flowers.mobi website. This is where I think the RFP process is good to have in the mix. I'm looking forward to seeing the results of this first round, I think this month.

I agree, the sale of premium names to endusers is better for the "ecosystem", but I think the sale of flowers.mobi really put .mobi on the radar for domainers.

Hello,

I share the post of Scandiman.
For many reasons I am pretty sure big sales will be done in several of the auctioned mobi.
This will probably push the virtual value of the highest premium names.
It should also initiate a buzz about the dot mobi which is very positive.
For the quality dot mobi, the ones that are not in the very high range the main factor that will push the value is the demand.
When the name will start to be recognized by everyone and the demand will grow then premium mobi owners should start to make great sales.

...

Thats impossible. Even after multi million dollar .com sales, you still see people selling .com names for $2 on the forums or even giving them away for free. A bad name is going to be worthless in any extension. You might not be able to buy any decent mobi names for under $500 though.

What is it so far, four names in RFP and 25 at auction???

That is not a healthy ratio, IMHO.

I agree, but the ones being processed seem pretty relevant to this extension.

When I think Mobile Browsing I think

News
Weather
Sports
Stocks

IMHO

Hi

I think one things is clear that maybe we can all agree about..

If you are considering the aftermarket, the best time to buy is ASAP.

Better hurry! Values of good Dot Mobi names, just keep rising!

Kind Regards,

Yelo

Tip - Hold on to your best Dot Mobi

You are right about the names having to be decent domains in order for their minimum value to get so high, I meant to say the same thing when I said โ€œany dot mobi worth listingโ€.

I think .mobis will only improve their value. How much how fast, who knows?
Auctions like Traffic can only help raise awareness and value imho.
