Hi,

I thought there should be a thread where users can showcase there newly acquired .domains
Many interesting domains have already been registered. What .domains do you have?

What's the point of a .domains?

Is this the ultimate piss take gTLD where the people sat down and said what's the greatest irony we can find in the new system and after many hours the smart guy in the back row who never says anything matter of factly stated:

"How about a new gTLD that they will register to sell all their new gTLDs?"

And the bright light of smug poured over the room.

And what is your 10 years experience in trademarks mean exactly? Because I don't see any of that experience being applied to the domains you buy.

I don't much care. I read the following on his site:

"Completely disassembled motorcycles down to the motor gears, pistons, etc. and successfully reassembled as a child"

Seriously. Anyone who can build children out of bike parts are genius

1and1.com $19.99

I agree with Cyberian. I wouldn't buy any domains, ever. No matter how cheap they are, from 1and1. You are better off going to eNom at $23, and use a respectable control panel from a respectable registrar.

Sorry Mods & Mems, I read this one wrong.
Maybe not, Cyberian. :)
Everyone has their own learning curve and with domains it might take a renewal or two for someone to move out of the larval domainer phase to being a newbie domainer. He was asking a question on another thread so that's always a good sign.

A shopfront for the owners of large portfolios? A platform for domain auction houses where people looking for specific types of domains can search particular auctions. The reserved and registry lists of domains might be illuminating. :)

The reserved registry list is huge for .domains. I tried to pre-register 10 .domains. 8 were on the reserved list, two were available for registration, but unfortunately eNom didn't capture them :( eNom refunded everything, regfee and pre-order fee :)

My three regs in this space were strictly defensive, given that I work with domains.

I have no plans to reg any more .domains.

I think this gTLD will be a major flop, with too few regs to support it.

It will likely join .tattoo (What was FS thinking?) in the gTLD boneyard.

New gTLD: www vs non-www which is better?

http://www.site.domains

or

http://site.domains

which is better?

You Can Have Your Cake and Eat It :)

*

Why can't you have both?

Use http://site.domains as your main URL

Redirect http://www.site.domains, the www being set up as a subdomain, to your main URL.

Was it actually registered or has it been held back by the registry. A lot of the best domains have been held back.

Nah, unfortunately registered already and parked on sedo.

1and1.com $19.99

Thanks, but i think i will stick with namecheap :gl:

http://www.site.domains

or

http://site.domains

which is better?

I prefer the one without www, but like Ms Domainer states, easily resolved :D

Not sure how you will take members from NP or DNF but good luck trying.

They are new gTLD strings. From what I remember, the new gTLDs, existing TLDs and ccTLDs are not permitted to be registered as domains (domains.example) in new gTLDs. They should not really have been available to register.

Just one:

J.Domains

I really wanted JI.Domains (initials for my company), but all 2-letters in the new gTLDs are registry reserved.

This is definitely a domainer's gTLD.

*
Good Catch, I think that'll be pretty damn valuable in the future. How much did you pay?

Bought EAP, low $$$ figures.

Premium renewal, under $80.

I thought these 1 L's would be fairly common in the new gTLDs, but, apparently, the registries have now pretty much decided to reserve the upcoming new ones.

We'll see how this shakes out.

Let's just say I was more enthusiastic a month ago about the new G's than I am now and have stopped purchases, at least for now.

At this point, I wouldn't recommend a buying spree, but if you can get a one-letter L for a reasonable price, then it might be worth it, but do consider renewal costs. I think mine are pretty reasonable, but if I had a lot of premiums, I would probably feel differently.

:)

I'm not liking the registration numbers so far...

The registries are targeting domainers, but we have limited budgets and patience.

They should be educating potential end users.

It's going to be many years before these catch on with the public, probably after the .brands start showing up on the web.

I have a few in mind for yet to be released gTLDs, but they just well may remain thoughts.

Agree , at least a radio ad campaign to let it be known the internet is changing, i do think .canon and .sony plus the geo gtlds will contribute to the education of 'joe public'

Hey icann , stop reserving and start advertising …… we cant pay for your lavish dinners forever !

Yep. I have 2 copies. The Desktop and Server. You get a generous discount if you trade up. But I decided to buy the server version and use both copies (and still got a discount). I use both daily. I highly recommend this software. Price was recently reduced by about half for the server version. This is for all intents and purposes DomainPunch.com. I noticed they don't own the corresponding .com
