Hi,

I thought there should be a thread where users can showcase there newly acquired .domains
Many interesting domains have already been registered. What .domains do you have?

I just registered nom.domains. The suggestions suggested domain.guru. So I tried to register it, but it is a reserved name. So why suggest it?

I only paid $23 over at eNom. Not sure if the price was lower because of my platinum reseller account.

are you sure you got domain.guru? whois says its reserved by registry.

Don't you think it's kinda interesting that they reserved all the double letter domains but not the single letter domains.

Did you have to pre-register it?

Evidently, some single letters were reserved...

And who knows? Maybe ICANN will claw back all the single letters, like they did eco...

No. I just registered it on the last day of EAP. I decided not to risk pre-registering and losing it to another registrar or competing in an auction, where the bidding might go way up.

I registered it at Dynadot, $50 cheaper than GD.

Renewal fee will be $77.00 -- not too bad for a single letter.

There is already a glut of registered domains that contain the keyword "domain". Domainers register domains in whatever subject they happen to be daydreaming about while in front of the computer; so naturally domains about domains are purchased pretty frequently.

Of course, the only people to sell these too -- for the most part -- would be domainers. Two problems with that:

(1) Those other domainers (if they like .DOMAINS) will already have spent their load on .DOMAINS domains of their own. So they won't want yours.

(2) Domainers are cheap. Remember, the goal is to buy at wholesale prices and sell at retail prices. Domainers are accustomed to paying pennies on the dollar. And, as a seller of .DOMAINS domains, that's your best-case scenario!

The only practical reason for registering .DOMAINS domains is to use them in your own business within the industry. But how many of those can you really use? I mean, if you've got 5-10 .DOMAINS domains and 5-10 domains in .COM that contain "domains" or something similar, are you really going to develop a few dozen sites just for domainers?
