From my personal observations and experiences, the vast majority—around 70%—of these requests appear to be insincere. They often come from newcomers, scammers, or time-wasters.

These so-called buyers typically post elaborate requests filled with strict "dos and don'ts." Many sellers, hoping for at least one sale, invest time and effort only to end up deeply disappointed, as these inquiries rarely lead to actual purchases.

Some buyer request threads remain active for months, yet upon closer inspection, the posters have not completed a single transaction.

It is time for the NamePros team to implement stronger verification measures in this section to help make the forum more reliable, accountable, and respected overall.

Please discuss.

I agree!

A better format would be that everyone that has a name to offer them should publicly post it with the price. The user then has to respond with their thoughts before seeing the next. That will clean things up really fast. Sellers will see what they reject or if they even bother putting in effort.

I was always under the impression that part of being a good salesman is learning to spot tire kickers early.

There is no way to verify
Buyer: request nonsense requirements/show off/copy cat from other people:
- Single dictionary word for $1,000 - Total budget $1,000,000
- Taking in 3,000 extensions
- Godaddy appraises $10,000
- and some other ridiculous requirements

Seller: Sending crap names which have nothing to do with the requirements.

The Request to Buy Section is a Joke,

Friendly reminder that you can ignore buy requests from buyers who don't look sincere or reputable. 👍

Focus your efforts and time on the requests that look sincere and reputable.

That criteria will be different for each seller.

You can save a lot of time by quickly looking at their account appearance.

The majority of them have ZERO feedback meaning they never bought anything but they keep posting just to show off and wasting people time.

It's the same nonsense on X too. These "buyers" fall into 4 categories - usually not even interested in buying.

1) They do it for views and engagement (more at X).
2) They want mid-top tier domains for unrealistic prices.
3) Scammers.
4) Legit, but rarely buy.

With that said, it goes both ways. I see so many sellers, that post pigeon-poo or domain that don't fit the criteria, for unrealistic prices too.

Suggestion:

If the buyer did not buy anything in 7 days then the thread will be closed.
This will eliminate a lot of fake buying as they only create the thread and never check or follow with the sellers (I know there are a lot of scrap names submitted from the sellers too)
