    Hey guys,

People with no morals should be called out and be made aware of in the industry.

Just a friendly warning never to do business with James Kim ([email protected]). After a long time negotiating for a domain sale, he agreed on a sale price and requested the offer be made via Sedo for him to accept and conclude the deal.

This low-life then sends it to auction and sends an email that reads: "Good luck!"

Avoid doing business with him and people like him.

Had this discussion in the VR thread last week. Hate the whole ‘send to auction’ concept after negotiating with a potential buyer, obviously your case is different (you got a double kick in the balls) but not a fan of the system as a whole.

Buyer doesn’t know what’s going to happen, they are negotiating to buy a domain outright and when a seller sends to auction, a potential buyer is forced into a (7-30 day) auction without choice or warning and are automatically the highest bidder, unable to move onto another option until they are at least outbid.

For me it’s a flawed system and not the correct way to do business.

If you've already reached an agreement with the owner privately before going to Sedo, then ask them to take off the 'make offer' at Sedo and put in the agreed upon price as a 'buy now', to ensure they can't send it to auction. An 'offer' they can send to auction, but a 'buy now' they can't.

When I sell a domain and the buyer wishes to use an escrow, I send them to my domain's link at Sedo. And I change the domain to 'buy now', with our agreed upon price, rather than keeping it at 'make offer'. Keeps it clean and lets them know I'm not going to stiff them by sending it to auction.

All this, of course, hinges upon knowing the buyer beforehand. If it's a blind offer on Sedo and you don't know the buyer and haven't previously agreed upon a price, sending to auction is just fine.

    You live, you learn.

I learned never to trust or do business with James Kim and I learned that if I reach a deal with a seller, it is to be done via BIN or Escrow, never make offer on Sedo.

You should contact SEDO and ask them to rescind your offer as you were under the impression that you were negotiating a BUY NOW. Then if SEDO acquiesces, you can go back to Mr. Kim and ask him to reconsider, if in fact, you still have interest in the name and in doing business with Mr. Kim. Good Luck!

let him send it to auction

most likely it will not sell higher anyway

and he has to pay sedo 20% or so

now tell me who is laughing in the end?

In a situation like this - request that the seller updates the listing to BIN.
Then the price is frozen and he has a commitment to sell at the BIN price.

Is he a member here ?

He sneakily gets your top offer and then looks for other fish in the (auction) sea.
That sucks! I hope you sort it out. Keep us updated!
