it had me rethinking my initial reaction that the iPhone is the death knell for .mobi. Even on an advanced device like the iPhone, having sites branded as "made for mobile" (as .mobi is), could be a plus. I'll have a more informed opinion after using it for several days. The navigation around big sites will likely feel less tedious as I get used to the iPhone's touch screen finger control method, but at the moment, I'm thinking that rumors of .mobi's death at the hands of the iPhone may be premature.

I must aggree:

ALot of people and companies are starting this trend up to there mobile version (now we all know a .com can do it, same with .me, .asia, net, just like a .com can do the same as a .TV can do....but Who is to know).... that there site wil have the relative content that they are looking for and display well?"

But the simple fact of a mobilized website can be very beinifical to the enduser. Big companies have cash (we all know that and they can create there .com version to what ever they want....Right and has everyting to offer for the person on the go?)

Now why are these very large compaines using.mobi and why do some redirect to there .com...?

Great post MIR

The "made for mobile" branding is nice. However, the sites are simply much more easy to navigate than a true .com. I've tried and tried to zoom and scroll with my new 3g and it's terrible. Sites like godaddy.com are all but impossible to navigate!

Ron Jackson is on to something and I'm sure more will catch on as they
obtain smart phones :)

zoom and scroll on mobi device will make everybody tired
the web site optimize for mobi device is only way for 3G application
MOBI domain is better for mobi site than other domain
