Hey everyone, I'm feeling rotten with a chest infection that I've been fighting since last week (not great timing but no sympathy needed) so I'll likely be out of action for a couple of days. If you have any questions on the commission alignment, DM me and I'll respond when I can.
Feel better James

This is a very valid point. The reason for Dan implementing the extra 2% credit card fee was because there wasn't enough profit for Dan since they charged only 9% commission. But now they'll be increasing their commission from 9% to 15% which gives them lots more profit. Therefore Dan should remove that extra 2% credit card charge. Will they be doing that?
Good morning @Dane and all,

Thank you for raising this question.

Correct, the 2% fee is going away. Starting February 1st Dan.com will no longer be adding a 2% fee to credit card transactions.

Have a great day!

Will the added VAT also go away for EU sellers? :xf.smile: (ex: be included in the 15% commission)

Or you will add 21% on top of 15% = 18.2%?

@LaszloSchenk

Can you confirm if the 4% Paypal payout fee for sales over 2k is also going away?

I think some domainers were right, Godaddy buys other competitors not to improve them but to destroy like a cockroach, which stay in their way.
But I tell Godaddy that there is me a Scorpion which will take you out of biz!

Dan had a better product than GoDaddy did. And they charged less for it. GoDaddy wanted to get rid of them. Makes sense, that sort of thing happens all the time. What doesn't happen all the time is a company saying that unless you use our products EXCLUSIVELY we are going to financially penalize you. That, to me, is the bigger issue. The increase from 9% to 15% sucks. But to charge a whopping 25% commission if we don't use them exclusively is just ridiculous.

It's really that hard to create a full list of Q/A for ALL the functions that the changes in the fee schedule affect?

Here's one more question for you then: Buyers that paid via bank account (balance) would get a 1% discount that would be passed onto the seller. Does this remain or it becomes obsolete?

Well, that is something at least.

The 10% commission applies when domains are being

- parked with advertisiments OR using the Sedo Sales lander
- having a BIN OR BuyNow or Best Offer
-
sold through the Sedo marketplace directly

If the buyer comes through the SedoMLS network, the commission will be 20%.

I am a SEDO-customer since the year 2000 (for more than 22 years).
I have all my domains listed for sale at SEDO via URL-forwarding to a SEDO-Landing-Page.

All my domains are having a BIN or a MAKE OFFER and all my domains are using a "Sedo Sales lander" without "Advertisements".
On all my BIN domain-sales in the past, I have paid a 15% comission to SEDO.
I think the comission should have been 10% instead of the charged 15%

I am a bit confused now...

To offset a 25% commission you need to raise your price a whopping 33% above your target net amount. To offset 15% commission, you need to increase your price by 18%. A 9% commission only required a 10% markup.

For example on a $1000 domain:

Break even on 25% commission
$1000 + 33% = $1333 sales price
$1333 * 25% = $333 commission
Net $1000

Break even on 15% commission
$1000 + 18% = $1180
$1180 * 15% = $177 commission
$1003 net

Break even on 9% commission
$1000 + 10% = $1100 sales price
$1100 * 9% = $99 commission
Net $1001

My understanding with all of these "lander parking page discounts" is that it does not count for URL redirects.

For Sedo, it is either ns1/2.sedoparking or sl1/2 sedo landers that give you the 10%. AND, only if it if BIN OR Make Best Offer. I found that it easy to make the mistake on Sedo. If you accidentally set up BIN and make offer on the lander (not Make Best Offer), it's 15%.
A 50% increase in your commission happens if you do not have effectively a "Buy Now, Make Best Offer lander." So, check your landers there carefully.

I parked domain on Sedo and after a sale they charged 15% + vat so total like 20% !!!
SedoMLS was active or why it was 15% ?

So you had a lander on Sedo. It's possible that the sale went through the marketplace rather than the lander, which would have changed the commission from 10% to 15%. The other possibility could be that the lander accidentally had a buy now and "make offer" option on it, rather than the "Buy Now" and Make Best Offer. I recall when I had the landers, it seemed like an easy mistake to make.

Sedo MLS partner transactions are a 20% commission, so that appears unlikely.

There is a curious twist to the issue of a Sedo lander attracting a customer, but then that customer later buying the domain through the marketplace. Let's say someone gets interested in your domain through the lander. They then decide to browse through the marketplace first, to see perhaps if they want to buy anything else as well.. They then buy it through the marketplace listing. Do you still only get the 10% commission?

I somewhat doubt this, but perhaps it would be best to ask Sedo customer service about this. That would be very frustrating, if you aren't credited at 10% for bringing the lead through the lander.

Hi

if you click the link that says "more details" under your "net amount credited", then it will show the amount of commission charged and why, as in a marketplace find or mls sale.

imo...

Good note for many domainers,

it took me a while back then to figure out that.

Thanks for help, as always :xf.smile:
I'm using Sedo for 2 weeks.

I just check, now it's 10%, but now there are new numbers everywhere on Sedo, but not at my bank account !
Where are my $2.13 ?

Hey what's going on ?
It needs investigation, why numbers were changed today after my post here (for @Sedo too)

I got message now, here on NP.
like"It is likely that there was a hiccup when the sale took place"
now waiting for refund or so

Thanks

Please send us your Sedo user name via PM and we will look into your account settings. As mentioned by another forum user it is likely that URL forwarding might be the reason why the 10% commission wasn't applying. But we'll make sure to look into it once we receive the information from you per PM.
