Thanks for help, as always :xf.smile:
I'm using Sedo for 2 weeks.

I just check, now it's 10%, but now there are new numbers everywhere on Sedo, but not at my bank account !
Where are my $2.13 ?

Hey what's going on ?
It needs investigation, why numbers were changed today after my post here (for @Sedo too)

I got message now, here on NP.
like"It is likely that there was a hiccup when the sale took place"
now waiting for refund or so

Thanks

Since your request got covered as well in the Sedo thread, we're just checking in to confirm that your Sedo transfer agent has reached out to you via email with more information. Glad, that we were able to sort things out.

GoDaddy does not bother to serve httpS traffic on ns5/ns6 landers. Resultingly, some domains switched to these landers may stop receiving any human traffic at all. Affected domains are those where previous owners opted for inclusion into "HSTS Preload" (https-only) domains list used by chrome and other browsers:

https://hstspreload.org

Ok, it says that no more elgible domains may (not must) be removed automatically. Also, "Be aware that inclusion in the preload list cannot easily be undone. Domains can be removed, but it takes months for a change to reach users with a Chrome update and we cannot make guarantees about other browsers."

Did GD think about this? No.

Or, did GD think about adblockers? Adblockers also tend to block websites which are not useful. For example, hugedomains is affected. Try to visit hugedomains [or any of their forsale domains] with ublock origin enabled (and, just in case, activate "MVPS HOSTS" list in config) - adblock will block this attempt and show warning page. This is what happens if too many "undeveloped" domains are concentrated within one system. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME FOR ADBLOCKERS TO START BLOCKING GD-owned properties, where GD wants to concentrate forsale domains.

That is already happening to some extent.

I have uBlock Origin and all ns1 Afternic sites are blocked already. Blank screen is what you get.

So, since we're not living in paradise, more side effects should probably be expected. For example, I remember how a particular parking company (who else?) DDOSed other parking companies a few years ago. Now, thanks to GoDaddy, too many businesses are affected either directly or indirectly. Parking companies who are losing domains parked with forsale links. Other marketplaces and landing page providers. Even Google who is losing parking $$$...
As a side note, a good sign is that GD competitors are trying to further improve. Sedo is posing on NP again for example.

This may be progress. Other competition may be helpful for stepping up the race for improvements.

In terms of getting around the adblocker problem, Namecheap did a great job helping me do URL forwarding of all of my portfolio. This is proving an interesting alternative to the Dan or Bodis landers. There appears to be no impact from UBlock on these listings.

Basically, it's a lander equivalent, that goes from the user typing in the domain name and being directly at the Namecheap marketplace listing with the "AddToCart" button just waiting to be pushed!

So, hopefully more Namepros forum members will find creative options for landers to help avoid the adblocking issues. And thank you @tonyk2000, for helping alert me to the ad blocker issues.

Hi

before parking/marketplaces were requiring customers to use their respective nameservers, url forwarding/redirection to specific pages was pretty much the standard format.

one of the old distribution portals i used was "searchportal.information.com"

still, you can do the same thing now with any other marketplace, except you might pay the highest commission rate for url redirect.

for ppc, url redirect is no longer permitted.

like to add,
that @Sedo has partner program where you can get an affiliate code to use for redirecting.
and... if that lead doesn't buy your name, but makes a purchase under your code, you're supposed to get some $ from the transaction.
don't know who else has that type of referral program, which BTW was/used to be common for PPC companies to offer.

imo...

@tonyk2000 and @twiki can you guys please share some domains that use that DNS? Trying to test a few things. Thanks in advance.

Still possible with a complicated setup. See what above.com parking manager does for example. They receive all traffic of somedomain.com and actually forward it with rotation to ww1.somedomain.com which is cname to bodis, ww2.somedomain.com which is cname to sedo, etc. Proper DNS config is required. The key is that the 2nd level domain must remain the same (somedomain.com), but subdomains may be different.
Nothing prevents a domainer from doing the same on own hosting. For example, sending part of visitors to a parking company and another part, from this or that geo maybe, to an affiliate program...

Hugedomains affected by adblockers: just try any random domain from their homepage ("Featured domains" section). I'm using ublock origin with default lists, including MVPS HOSTS lists which seems to be responsible for blocking HD in my config (meaning that it is the 1st list from various lists in use which blocked HD) and a few language-specific lists. Resultingly, ublock origin does not let me visit these domains...

As for afternic, I do not have zone files @ the laptop I'm typing this from, but it is not surprising that domains using ns1.afternic are affected. @twiki may have some examples.

Hi
yeah, i forgot about above.com.

i have done similar in the past by using various NS for the same domain
ie:
ns1.bodis.com
ns2.parkingcrew.com
ns3.sedoparking.com
buy.internettraffic.com

sorry for going off-topic

imo...

I'm having this question still:

scenario
-I'm listing my domain on DAN (with DAN nameservers)
-I opt in to list it at afternic
-The domain sells through the afternic network (so not on DAN)

Do I now pay 15% or 25% commission?

If you're listing at Dan with Dan nameservers (either dan.com or undeveloped.com), and a sale happens via Afternic, that's the 15% rate.

I have been negotiating with a GoDaddy broker for several months and we agreed on a price for the domain. The domain does not use any of the GoDaddy company nameservers. The broker says the buyer will be ready to move forward with the purchase in a few weeks from now. So if the transaction is completed after February 1, hopefully I will still only pay the old commission @James Iles?

One consideration for alternative to Dan, with it's higher commissions, is the Creative use of URL-forwarding to your registrar marketplace.
As an update to a trial of using the domain-url forwarding to Namecheap, there are some interesting findings so far:

The Good:
1. The speed is very fast for the upload. Almost instantaneously, after typing in the domain name, the listing appears.
2. The SEO information does seem to be readily provided for domains with high searches

The Maybe Not so Helpful:
3.There are distractions that are offered on checkout, such as trying to get additional products or even another similar domain name sold as well. This likely does not help the sale for the domain itself.
4. If someone clicks on the domain checkout, but does not proceed, there is a delay in it rebooting to allow for another person to buy. A message instead comes up to contact sales to complete the purchase. The delay, however, appears to be less than a few hours, perhaps even shorter than that (still testing).

So, that's my update on continued experimentation with "lander-equivalent" potential alternatives to Dan and AN landers. The NC marketplace URL-Forwarding is an imperfect solution, but does have some interesting benefits, especially the automated SEO information.

Yikes. That's not good at all.

Yes, definitely trying to see the extent to which that happens.

In this case, that domain they cited was also owned by me, through GoDaddy. I have the xxme.com version at NC, as well as the xx.me at GD. It's unclear if their system happened to pick up on same ownership (since I have privacy off), and was trying to sell both for me! I very much doubt that, though.

If more incidents are noted, I'll report back to NP. That, admittedly, would be a deal breaker for using the URL Marketplace forwarding.

This is something I have complained about for quite some time actually.

It is counterintuitive to offer alternatives for sale on the checkout page via traffic that was generated by the domain lander. In a way, it is kind of hijacking lander traffic to offer buyers alterative domain options.

There should not be distractions in place when it comes to the buyer finishing the checkout process.

@James Iles

I would like a little more clarification on your position at GoDaddy, if possible.

Generally a liaison is a go-between representing (2) or more parties...In this case GoDaddy and the domain investment community.

This generally involves give and take and discussion.

So, are you here to just collect feedback and forward it on?

Or

Is this more of a give and take, where we can expect updates and discussions regarding the feedback?

I hope it is the second option.

Brad
