you could "bring the transaction" to @Sedo, starting at 3%

Sorry, I never used Sedo. Do they offer 3% payment processing fee for bringing your own lead? If so, that sounds like a solution to me...

These are the daily stats for today, 6/1/23

Name serverTotal Change% ChangeNew DomainsTransfers InTransfers OutDeletedCurrent Total
BODIS.COM-40,141-2.92%1,1263,192-42,790-1,6691,375,156
DAN.COM30,7061.28%1,22838,120-8,059-5832,403,642

The biggest NS movement of the day was portfolio holding 29,755 domains that moved from Bodis to DAN.

So the migration towards the monopoly has started...

The new commission rate doesn't start until Feb 1st. Could it be possible some domainers want to lock in the 9% commission rate/close some deals before the end of the month?

It'll be interesting to see the statistics between Jan 31st and Feb 1st..

Sure, if there are willing buyers.

I didn't wait until Feb, and made some changes right away in pricing. My Afternic BIN prices are slightly lower now. Will keep all my landers at Dan for the moment.

I am kind of in the same boat. My priced Afternic listings can stay.
They are mainly lower to mid tier.

The rest are generally higher upside domains on Dan.com now. Many of those are unpriced, and already not listed on Afternic.

Dan.com is a well designed system. I saw 9% as a reasonable commission when it came to handling my own leads. For 15%, not so much.

I am not going to make any impulsive decisions, but when you start looking at other options you realize there are quite a few solid options.

We will see if these changes have the desired outcome for GoDaddy. In my case it is pushing me to explore other options that I would not have otherwise. I am sure some others are in the same boat.

I dream of an ideal combination of all the good things that Dan.com offers, with the extensive partner network of Afternic. Just throw out that beta version of Afternic and make people really happy.

In my opinion the Dan.com system is superior to Afternic in virtually every way.
The Afternic distribution network is unmatched.

To have the best of both would be a great thing.

I think at some point GoDaddy is going to push people away form self-brokering domains in general.
It is already heading that way with the 25% commission penalty for using other nameservers.

It is a risky calculation though as most of the biggest sales are done via negotiation, not via BIN landers. If you push people away you could go from getting 9% of the sale to 0% of the sale.

Afternic certainly has a role for low to mid tier priced domains.

Like I said before though, I used Voodoo/Parked.com for years. If your domains get leads, the landers don't really matter that much. I think a lot of better domains will just be moved out of their ecosystem.

I've tried Sedo landers for the first time, surprisingly the landers are not bad at all. They have 9 or 10 landing page templates to chose from. The landing page is clean and well designed.

For the majority it won't mean anything as they will be happy to have moved something producing a 1,000+% return. Dan has the best customer service in my experience: Fast response times, speak with an actual person that's friendly and prompt payments and transfers (buying or selling).

Why would people move from Bodis to Dan? Bodis has free sales landers with Escrow as backend. Dan has landers that charge 15%. Did they do it to stop the potential 25% commission from happening (but of course lose the 0% if someone types the domain into the URL bar)?
Because Escrow is not supported in poor countries.
edit: i think this is related to something locally, our government does not want you to get rich, because if you get you can come into high position and wipe them out of their deeds.

There are plenty of countries that can be considered poor (by international standards) that Escrow does support.

And there are some actually rich countries (like Kazakhstan) that are not supported. This probably has more to do with the risk of doing business and/or sanctions, rather than a country being "poor" or anything imposed by local authorities.

Are you using the ones with ns1.sedoparking.com or sl1.sedo.com? The former are the traditional ones, can make changes under parking optimization, and the latter go to newer clean-look landers. I personally prefer the sl ones, and think they have done a good job building trust with the design. Now if only that accept cookies could be made a bit smaller for the first time visitor! :xf.grin:

Yep. I was perfectly happy before. Now I'm looking into all available options. I'm just not thrilled with the direction that GoDaddy seems to be heading.

I tried twice and almost lost one of my deals.
With one I waited days until the process started.
The other one was faster but still very slow.
On the other hand, with DAN I had over 200 lead buy transactions and the process always started within minutes and everything else was very fast.

Hi

i agree for now, but....

when gobaddy realizes they have multiple customer service personnel for each entity, at some point during this "consolidation" period, somebody is going to get the boot.

and will it be those who now service Dan or those who service Afternic or the Unireg crew?

time will tell.

imo...

Hi

how much commission did Sedo charge and how much did Dan charge for bringing your leads?

imo...
