Credit cards declined at HostGator

I'm running circles to transfer a domain to HostGator. It turned out that you can't initiate account creation with them by ordering domain transfer, you should start with ordering hosting, or, maybe with registering a new domain.

So, after learning this I tried my luck with registering a new domain (.space for $0.95) - but both of my 2 cards, used on/offline on a daily basis, were declined.

Has anybody run into a similar problem when paying with cards at HostGator?

I haven't, but why are you transferring a domain to Hostgator? There are much better registrar options, IMO.

Cheap is not always best, unless it's a disposable name that you will keep for less than a year, and then drop it.

Thank you for your comments, however, I'd welcome thoughts/experiences in the subject matter.

(Tried to register a .space for $0.95 not because it was cheap, but without registering a domain (or ordering hosting) as a first step you can't create a valid account with them. So I chose the cheapest from their registration offerings just to get through this step.)
