Canceled a domain, when does my money get back?

Hello... I canceled a domain a couple days ago. I was wondering, when will my refund be received in my paypal? or will I even get a refund. The domain I canceled was made around 5 days ago and I canceled it 3 days ago.

Using GoDaddy you clicked "cancel" , yes?
I don't think you get your money back, unfortunately.
More info could help us answer the question definitively, however.

I think you've almost certainly lost your money, and there's no real point in cancelling a domain (unless you're being threatened with legal action or something) as you don't get your money back if you do, they're "non refundable." You might as well keep it a full year and let it expire at the end of the 12 months - but make sure you don't have auto-renew set at your registrar.

Unless of course, you're one of the few who seem to have privilaged access to the registration system, and can register a domain for one or two weeks and then cancel it again, I assume at no cost to them. But I guess ICANN will get round to policing that in a few years or so.

at namecheap if you are a good customer and you ask nicely they will usually cancel a domain for you and give you a full refund if its within 7 days of purchase.

If you cancelled with godaddy within 5 days you will get your money back. But.......you have to call them to confirm it. Online cancel will not get your money back.

Hmmm, interesting, they must have changed the rules. But it opens things up for abuse if registrars can cancel without cost in a few days. They can register a domain, traffic check and then cancel at no cost if the domain looks unprofitable.

It seems the perks of being an accredited registrar get better all the time.

Hi all,

I just canceled a domain with GoDaddy the other day. I canceled it the next day after I regged it. I emailed them and they told me to cancel my domain and e-mail them back with my payment type and the last 4 digits of my credit card used to register the domain. I e-mailed them back with the info they requested and then I received this e-mail from them:

Dear...,

Thank you for your email. I have refunded the charge for the domain registration as it was cancelled and released in time. Please allow 5-7 business days to see the funds applied to the associated payment method.

I saw that they are doing it, some time ago I tried to get expiring domain sosnowiec.net ( Polish town ~250 000 ppl)
and some big company reged it and after 2 months when I checked whois this domain was available...

With Moniker, you can cancel the domain within 4 days and you get full refund instantly except for the 25 cents which is ICAAN fee.
This way you should not loose money on useless domains that dont get any traffic.

O my goodness. Are you kidding me? I can not get a full refun (25 cents loss ICANN).
That really pisses me off, I can not believe it, and I do not get the refund at all. That serouisly pisses me off.

A lot of people don't really know that, either. But that's the reality: once you
sign-up for a domain name, no refunds.

All registrars state that in their Service Agreements. Whether people bother to
read or even agree is up to them.

It's up to the registrar if they want to or not. Some will do, others don't if it'll
especially eat into their profits.

If you cancelled your domain name roughly within the 120-hour window from
the date and time it was first registered, try calling Go Daddy and see what
happens. If they say no refund, then that's it.

You can challenge it. But don't expect it to not have consequences.

I'd get over it if I were you, though. If you were expecting to be refunded for
something you "didn't use", I'm sorry to say you expected too much.

I guess you can get the refund.
I once made a bulk registration, and some names showed registration failure, then I got the refund.
But your case is you canceled the name by yourself, you need to send an email to their support stuff, I think they may approve to refund you.

Pretty sure that the $0.25 would be a Moniker fee not an Icann fee ;)

In general there is no refund. Why should there be? It is not as if the product has been damaged during the 2 day period.. Also, depending on which registrar you used you need to read the small print re refunds which unless specified as available assume not.

I know DomainSite.com does not do refunds no mater how soon you contact them about it.

u can do it at cnobin for 1 $ fee . Moniker for 1$ or 25 cents as per your account. Enom for 25 cents ..

don't let $8 piss you off that much, where did you see you would get a refund?... read the TOS before ordering
