I am going to tell you about a gigantic project going on in Abu Dhabi called Reem Island. This project is so huge 3 of the largest developers in the UAE(Tamouh, Sorouh, and Reem Investments) are building it. It is even bigger than The Pearl Qatar project that appeared in this forum last June.

- Reem Island is a combined residential, commercial and business project being built on a natural island off the coast of Abu Dhabi City and will be directly connected to Abu Dhabi City by a number of bridges. The location of Reem Island is only 20 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport.

- Reem Island will accomodate and estimated 280,000 residents. Some estimates go as high as 350,000!!

- Reem Island will contain Numerous hotels, resorts, beaches, spas, shopping malls, restaurants, medical clinics, many, many businesses, a 27 hole golf course, etc., etc.

- Just one of the business projects on Reem Island is Addax Port. By itself Addax is a massive port project which will contain 5 huge towers: an office tower and 4 other residential towers. And this is just one "small" part of Reem Island.

- Of course there will be tons of luxury condos and homes and villas, etc. to accomodate the huge number of residents of Reem Island.

- Reem Island will eventually be the "center" of Abu Dhabi which is the Richest of all the Emirates. Even richer than Dubai.

- Do a google search to get lots more info on Reem Island and here are a few sites to get you started: ReemIsland.com, AddaxPort.com, ReemInvestments.com. There are many more.

- There are still many good names left. I picked up:

ReemIslandProperties.com

ReemProperties.com

...but there are still many more left. As a domainer if you miss out on Reem Island you will never forgive yourself. Good luck and I hope this post was of help to you.

Both are good, especially MudonHotels.com, I'm now hitting my own head that I missed that one when I regged some Mudon names two days ago :)
Two days ago I regged Mudon.org, MudonGolf.com, Mudon.tv, Mudontv.com, MudonInvestment(s).com, MudonBusiness.com and MudonApartment(s).com.

Do TM issues exist when using the names of developments such as these? For instance, if I were to reg skygardensapartments.***, would that be a violation of a TM? It includes the name of the development, but it is most likely not a domain that the developer would ever use to market available properties.

That's a good question.

I would assume that you may have some TM issue there but I'm not 100% percent certain.

The way I'm approaching it, correct or not, is that I'm working under the assumption that there's more of a TM issue with specific buildings, complexes, structures, etc., but when you're dealing with what basically amounts to an entire "city," it's fair game. Of course, I could be wrong, but we'll see...

I agree and skygardensapartments.*** is very specific.

hmm...wonder, as developers are willing to spend money to develop projects with names like pixeltowers and skygardens that they do not own (yet), taken since sep 2006 and nov 1999 respectively.... not the cheapest or most creative by any means, nothing unique and couldve chosen ANYTHING as a name for a new development....
i guess they want what they want. the projects look fantastic and i look forward to developing my sites to support the exposure and hope to travel there someday....maybe even drink a coffee (or doggy cocktail?!) with smith...one never knows....

I like the way this thread is developing to include projects in addition to Reem Island. I also like how we are including Dubai projects. The UAE is growing so fast, and the projects are so amazing, we should cover as many as we can. The more projects we cover the more great domain ideas we can come up with!

BTW did you see those photos of the Lagoons Development in Dubai that Smith had on projectdxb.com. Amazing. Also, and this is for Smith: was that robot in the Cityscape Dubai YouTube video a real bot or some guy in a suit??

Anyhow, feel free to post about ALL projects going on all over the UAE in this thread (not just Abu Dhabi). Furthermore, other parts of the Middle East can be included i.e. Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, etc.

Guy in a suit, with another guy on a cart close by controlling what it said, facial movements etc. Was pretty cool though, he serenaded my fiancée apparently :)

Thanks, just to be sure, which does look three times bigger, is that Reem Island?

If I look at some information on Saadiyat Island:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saadiyat_Island ($27 billion investment)
it looks like Saadiyat Island is another major project.

Is Reem Island separated in other projects?
Like 'Shams Abu Dhabi' and 'Najmat Abu Dhabi'?

This is all very impressive and you are a lucky guy living there!

- Sharjah: the Sharjah Investment Center was on exhibit at the SNASCO booth. This is a great looking mixed use project.

- Dubai: A giant project called Remraam will be built as part of Dubailand. It is a huge residential development. It will contain residences in a wide variety of price ranges to cover a wide range of potential buyers. See remraam.ae for more info.

- Pakistan: A beautiful new huge project from Emaar called Crescent Bay.

- Dubai: The Dubai Towers at the Lagoons. These are some of the most amazing buildings I have ever seen. You must check this out at: lagoons.ae. It looks like something from another dimension!
