Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Standard isn't searchable.
You can see in the Dashboard or in the Sync par that it says : Standard Listings are searchable if name servers point to Atom

So all you need is to use their nameservers

Atom really needs to work on how they categorize their names, making it easier for buyers to find quality names.

Buyers just get served trash names and it drowns out the good names, making seller not want to list there, especially when they require exclusive listing requirements

Atom is turning into a bloated BrandBucket 2.0

Yes it is, but only if your NS are pointed to Atom.

This has been mentioned multiple times on here by Atom and others.

I dont think it'll be long until people realise Atoms value is in the landing pages, wlm and payment portal.

I think the brandable marketplace element has long been devoid of value due to over saturation.

Most of the latest "inovations" serve little to no benefit.

As a landing page, wlm, payment and sales processor I can't fault them. I don't need any of the other fluff.

I also find excellent value in their Wholesale Marketplace (both as a buyer and seller).

Your view on the value of the various sections or areas of Atom is highly dependent on the domains you're buying (or selling). If you are selling popular 1-words, names, LL, NN, LLL, NNN, CC, etc. with lots of type-ins then the Standard lander fits, as these get views anywhere. Hell, you could sell those on your own lander.

Conversely, if you own a lot of brandables, hipster homophones, and non-connective 2/3/4-letter word domains that few would type into a browser or search engine, then the Premium market on Atom can help market and sell domains that would potentially go unsold elsewhere.

If you own a lot of ccTLD domains, then maybe going with Plus and joining the Sapphire marketplace is the best way to get eyeballs on your domains, far away from the .COM-dominated Premium market.

Some people like to broker their own domains, sell wholesale or join curated marketplaces, and some don't. Different strokes for different folks.

That's the beauty of Atom. It really has something for everyone and we shouldn't assume that just because one type of lander or market is right for us, that it fits for everyone else in the world, and vice versa.

@Atom

Please add an option to scroll through more names on a page, or better yet, enable infinite scrolling.

Every extra 'next page' click that a buyer has to make could result in a lost sale.

Another suggestion: Email us when someone sends a message to the Message Center. The user message center, accessed by the piece of mail on the top right of the page.

@Atom.com , For your promotions such as the present 25% off promotion , can you put the banner in red which is well known to those in the retail trade to catch a persons eye, people are attracted to red as they associate it with sales. The light blue just gets lost amongst all the other blue. Apart from the color of the banner the Ad itself lacks the wow factor, stick a large red circle with 25% off inside it . . . ?? It is almost as if you don't want people to see it.

I really appreciate Atom’s installment plan feature—it’s made domain sales more accessible and flexible for buyers while helping sellers close more deals.

One thing I noticed: I recently sold a non-.com domain on a 24-month plan and was surprised to learn that sellers need to cover renewal fees upfront for the full term, even though the buyer has full access to the domain the entire time. In practice, this means sellers are covering renewal costs while the buyer enjoys full use—without a guarantee they’ll complete all payments.

I totally understand the importance of keeping domains renewed, but I wonder if it would make sense for buyers to take on renewal costs during the installment period? That way, sellers wouldn’t be carrying extra expenses for a domain they no longer control.

Maybe this is something Atom would consider tweaking in the future?

I understand the need to ensure the domain remains active, but wouldn’t it make more sense for buyers to be responsible for renewal costs during their installment plan? Otherwise, sellers are taking on additional expenses with no guarantee that the buyer completes all payments.

Would Atom be open to reconsidering this policy so that buyers cover renewals during installment plans? It seems like a fairer approach and would reduce risk for sellers. Has anyone else run into this? Thoughts?
I recently examined how several well-known platforms handle this, and found considerable differences.
