Introducing the Commission Match Guarantee

Starting September 2, 2024, we’re launching the Commission Match Guarantee for premium domains. With this program, Atom will pay sellers 10% of the Atom BIN price (up to $300) if their domain ends up selling outside our platform on one of the Approved Selling Platforms. This initiative is designed to offset the additional commission costs you might incur elsewhere, giving you the freedom to list your domains on Atom while ensuring that you are able to list the domains across all major registrars.

Terms & Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the Commission Match Guarantee, you must meet the following criteria.
  • Sellers who have reached Silver, Gold, or Platinum status by maintaining 50+ premium listings are eligible.
  • Your account must be in good standing (with no unresolved violations within the previous 90 days).
  • You must opt-in to the Commission Match Guarantee through the Marketplace settings section on your dashboard and agree to the full terms. If you were previously using Atom's Reduced Commission Benefit, you will no longer be eligible for it, as only one benefit can be active at a time.
  • The benefits will be activated once you opt into the program and will apply to any sales made after September 2, 2024. If you opt in after this date, the benefits will become active 48 hours later and will cover any sales occurring 48 hours after your opt-in time.
  • Only BIN priced, outright sales are eligible. The BIN price on the Approved Selling Platform needs to be at least 10% higher than the price you’ve set on Atom.com for the last 30 days.
  • The sale must occur on an Approved Selling Platform in accordance with Terms outlined in our Partial Exclusivity Benefits. Please make sure you are logged in to review the Terms.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
"At Atom, pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo is in our DNA."

I like this opening.

Atom has a deal with Afternic.
Has this been confirmed by Atom somewhere? What exactly does this deal entail?

I only know about the "partial exclusivity agreement" for Atom Sellers, but that's only an agreement on their own platform with their own Atom Sellers.

Atom Sellers that also list their premium accepted names on Afternic still have a problem, because Afternic TOS explicitly forbids Afternic Sellers to maintain different pricing on other landers, platforms, and marketplaces. And Atom requires that they price these domains (at least) 10% higher on Afternic.

Until now, this conflicting situation still exists and Sellers cannot simultaneously comply with the TOS of both marketplaces.

price matching with one trillion restrictions ... no tnx. next.

I have only seen the tweet (posted above) about the deal.

I don't know how Afternic is going to enforce that TOS. It's a ridiculous rule.

I don't think they can, how will they keep up with all the listings?

I think that there are many companies that could do a good job price checking across sales platforms. Each domain name is unique. There are a limited number of significant platforms to monitor. Sophisticated price checking and comparison technology is out there in use.

However...

I'd think it more likely, though, from a company that could implement (not just announce) things like bulk search, maintain a non-glitchy platform, eliminate rather than nurture bugs...

So, I would not argue against your "I don't think they can."

Punitive DNS policy encourages price adjustments by sellers.

HI

between them, they already charging the highest fee's and now the two A's have a deal, really?

if SH has the cash to offer a pay back, then they can afford to lower fees and survive without GD.

fine print readers better get the magnifier.
Can't Truss This

imo...

What are the “Approved Selling Platforms”?

Please list them.

Atom will syndicate Atom premium names automatically to Sedo, to their Atom account, with some markup to the price to compensate for Sedo's commission if the name sells through that channel.

Afternic did not allow such syndication, so Atom Sellers will have to list their Atom premium names on Afternic themselves. Atom has automated checks in place to check whether Afternic pricing is at least 10% higher than on Atom.

Trying to understand how calling it “Commission Match Guarantee” is acceptable when the maximum they’ll deduct is $300 in commission and they only include 1-2 marketplaces.

This name clearly builds on the concept of “Price Match Guarantee,” and Atom’s version is a hollow shell of that concept.

Misleading naming.

P.S. Big fan of Atom’s technology; just hate to see them using cheap sales tactics that mislead sellers who don’t read the fine print.

It is particularly striking that NamePros Parking is not mentioned as an Approved Selling Platform. Their commission is impossible to match for Atom.

It's good to see that Atom works on an opt-in basis, unlike Afternic who just turned Boost on for everyone.

To me this looks like to be in "retaliation" to Afternic Boost, not really, but you know.

Only Afternic is the accepted platform. They list on Sedo automatically.

I don't think they can, how will they keep up with all the listings?
Fast Transfer partners raise the price and what has Afternic done to stop them?

Thanks for the clarification @GrantP. Edited my post above.

Is there any reason that a seller wouldn’t want to opt in? Is there a downside to this program?
