Now that .APP is rolling out I thought I'd share a little of our position in .APP domains. I'd love to know what others are doing.

We budgeted just shy of $100k for .APP domain registrations. Several we've already acquired and several we've missed. I'll update our pickups as I can without giving away our position. So far I will share that we picked up:
  • Wedding.app

Trademark Claim
I do have a domain that we registered that has to pass their trademark claim process... it is very generic, not sure who decided to try to call it a trademark, we shall see.

Our Why
To sum it up, Google is our why. I became a domainer back in 2000, when the domain really mattered in SEO. My hunch is that Google won't be able to resist giving some type of preference to quality .APP domain.

Even a small advantage in the SERs or even the Play App Search results, make generic .APP domains valuable.

Ben at Google wrote something about a bug in Safari, but I have tested Safari, IE and Chrome. And the only browser it does not work is Chrome. How ironic..

The bug is that Safari and IE are bypassing the pre-loading instructions or something like that.

Try disconnecting/reconnecting your custom domain. Looks to be working in Chrome as well for now.

Pardon my ignorance. I don't know what that means.

Please elaborate.

Thanks

No worries, I'll try my best to explain. I assume you've pointed your .app domain to your github repository. Within the settings of your repository, all you need to do is remove your "custom domain" and press save. That will be the disconnect. Then type in your domain again and press save, to reconnect.

Follow the tutorial as posted earlier in this thread.

oh I skipped the github thing. I just forwarded my domain to my undeveloped for sale page.

Works fine on IE. thats it though.

Doesn't work with all other browsers.

Unless you already have an SSL certificate installed on your domain, forwarding/parking your site should not work. I tried that myself earlier. The workaround with github as suggested will at least provide with a simple landing page.

Until I have my hosting sorted out, that will do it for me.

Taxculator app
It doesn't work for me.
+ it doesn't work when checking at https://httpstatus.io with httpS://
It redirects only in plain HTTP mode... that's why works in IE as fallback...
Recheck your SSL-certificate at GoDaddy... activate and configure it properly... also ask them if their forwarding can be combined with SSL...
And the best solution - use another registrars.

Hi,
It's the first time I invested in domains.
I bought following .app domain:

informative.app
rupees.app
makeandroid.app
sarcasm.app
tvchannels.app
livepsl.app
paymax.app
livehockey.app
bookbus.app
youshare.app
liveipl.app

Did I make good investment or can it go waste?

Informative is okay but not necessarily an easy sell.. I don’t see the others ever selling though, I would grace delete them if you got them at a registrar where you can get a refund.

Yes, informative looks good/brandable... it has potential to be sold.
