Let me be clear from the start:

Afternic and GoDaddy are not domain marketplaces anymore.

They’re a religion. And in their religion, they believe they are God.

They want every domain on Earth, even the ones you haven’t registered yet, to be listed through their sacred Premium Network Fast Transfer system (aka Fast Confiscation) with a high commission for them.

🐍 The Illusion of "Premium Network"

They throw around their so-called "Afternic Premium Network" like it’s some elite marketplace.
It's not. It's just a bloated outdated distribution system that benefits them more than you.

Real talk. A focused, fast-loading landing page on Atom.com, Domaineasy.com, Bodis, Sedo or NamePros will outperform their entire "network" 10 times out of 10.

The traffic that lands on your domain is yours. You don’t need a "premium network" to convert. You need clarity and control. When buyers wanna buy MyDreamDomain.com they visit MyDreamDomain.com.

🔒 Locks, Rules, and Power Trips

I recently renewed a few domains.
What did I get in return? Cancelled sales on afternic.
Why? Because A 30-day lock was applied by the registrar. Fast Transfer requires unlockable domains.
What I did? I listed the domains on atom.com and after 15 days they were sold.
Translation: if Godaddy can’t control your names, they don't want them.
That’s their logic. They only want your names if they own the pipeline.

They want the domain
They want the registrar
They want the transaction
They want the visibility
They want the commission
And they want your loyalty on top of that
But I don’t bow.

💸 Let’s Talk Commission

Afternic’s commission is ridiculous. You give 20 percent of your sale or more for what exactly?
Atom.com gives you 15 percent with the Standard Plus plan, promoting your domains and way more freedom.
Sedo takes up to 20 percent too depending on how you sell and where your domain is parked.
And yet, none of them force Fast Transfer and none of them require you to surrender your lander. (For Afternic, Fast means fast, even if it's not automatic, you should transfer quickly even manually or you have problems)

If you’re still listing your names with Afternic, fine. But don’t let them double-dip.
Never use their landers. Ever.

Use landers you control:
Atom
Bodis
NamePros
Sedo if you must
Your own landers
Just not Afternic’s

Why? Because landers give you leverage.
You get the lead. You get to negotiate. You see who visits. You own the experience.

Afternic’s lander gives you nothing except a mystery box sale and a no-reply email you can't respond to, 3 days later saying "We'd love to hear your feedback" while they take their cut and your data.

💀 The DAN.com Disaster

GoDaddy didn’t acquire DAN to improve it. They acquired it to kill it.
DAN was flexible, community-friendly, lean and smart.
They gutted it and redirected the traffic into their black hole. That’s not innovation. That’s a hostile takeover.
Classic tyrants empire move:
Acquire > Control > Kill what works > Force-feed the alternative.

🧹 Lease-to-Own: Another Missed Opportunity

Someone please explain to me
Why does Afternic refuse to offer a simple Lease-to-Own push through registrars like NameBright, like Atom does?

When someone buys your domain through GoDaddy via Lease-to-Own, Afternic cancels the sale if they can't pull the domain into their Fast Transfer system with auth code.
They don’t even try to push it manually or make the deal easy.

Why?
Because in their minds, every domain that exists, or could exist, belongs to them.
Not to you.
Not to the registrar.
To them.

They would rather cancel a legitimate sale, lose a happy buyer, and frustrate a seller who works hard and invests his money, just to preserve their imaginary control over where domains live.

That tells you everything you need to know.

🧠 Domainers Are Waking Up

You can have all the money in the world.
But we have the numbers.
We are the market.
We are the sellers.
Without us, they sell nothing.

Afternic is not the domaining world.
They’re just a fat system with a God complex.

🚀 Go Where the Smart People Go

Want sales?
Forget Fast Transfer
Forget fake exposure
Forget those commission traps

Use smart landers
Use smart platforms
Keep your visibility
Keep your control

Choose Atom
Choose Domaineasy
Choose NamePros
Choose Bodis

Just don’t give Afternic your front door
Because if you do, they won’t just charge you for the sale
They’ll own the house too

@GoDaddy @Afternic I will never ever use your landing pages, and this article is not addressed to you and I'm not looking for a solution unless the people running your company change their entire business philosophy.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Afternic’s lander gives you nothing except a mystery box sale and a no-reply email you can't respond to,
Wrong. They give me lower commission.

what is the commission? can you show a proof?
at atom it's 15% and they promote the domain. (Standard plus)

By using their landers I pay 15% instead of 25%: https://www.afternic.com/legal/agreements/pricing-and-fees
Without the "Boost," yes bro, I agree with you. You're right, but 15% looks cheap until you realize you lose your lead, your control, and your buyer if you don't have auth code and only can push. On Atom or others, you also pay 15% with Standard Plus if you want promotion, so you get promotion from Atom + visibility on Afternic. And the great news is that without Standard Plus, with only Standard, you pay just 7.5% commission. ;)

definitely NOT for more than 60% of sales on my portfolio...
what price you usually sell at? what you say bro is your own experience, that can happen if most of your sales are low to mid-tier domains. Real premium sales happen when the buyer types your domain directly. Direct traffic = real intent. when someone searches for domains on godaddy he/she is expecting something below $1000 .. usually.. or hopes that the domain is available

I sell domains between 1K and 6K, most sold at 1K.
I sell thousands of domains per year and for years...

I'm 100% sure that if I dont use afternic's landers I lose money due to the afternic commission penalty, already tested. That was not the case years ago, but for now it's the case...

I wish you all the best, and it definitely seems you sell more domains than me. I respect your point of view and your experience.
I personally own a few high-quality domains, not a huge portfolio, and I believe that for long-term brand positioning, keeping full control over the landing experience and negotiation flow still makes a big difference, even with self-brokerage at Afternic.. it’s not the same.
I also push a large part of my domains because I register or catch expired ones and actively do outbound sales for them. With Afternic, push is not available, and that's a big problem for me.
If it’s a Lease-to-Own sale and push is required, the sale is simply cancelled.
And for renewed domains sitting at registrars that apply a 30-day lock, it's the same .. Afternic makes you wait and cancels usually instead of pushing, because they don't like cooperating with other registrars.
To me, ethically, that's a real problem. A marketplace should help both sellers and buyers. not be egoistic.
So when GoDaddy and Afternic refuse to allow a simple push when the buyer is ready to buy, yes, it annoys me a lot, bro. Hope you understand. :D
Different experiences, different realities, but we all try to find the best strategy.

If everyone always did "When in Rome.." nothing would ever change. Innovation always starts when someone refuses to kneel ;)

For LTO, I have the same problem. To avoid that I put an LTO OFF when i know that they'll cancel the transaction.
They dont cancel the leto sale if the domain could be unlocked in less than 20 days.

For BIN sales, no problem, they dont cancel anything, the buyer wait... even for 60 days sometimes...

For sure it could be better...

Thanks a lot for your answer
and by the way I know there are very kind people at Afternic and GoDaddy and I respect everyone.
But the business philosophy doesn't hold up. It's too selfish.
A marketplace should help buyers and sellers make deals, and take a commission .. not cancel so many sales.
Thanks again bro 🙏

no domain company advertises more than godaddy and we pay the commission because they get the most calls and visits by those looking for a domain. The proof is, back when many had their names parked at Dan or Sedo, sales still dominated from afternic / godaddy, how come? Because end users call godaddy and visit godaddy and sometimes paid more because we forgot to update afternic than the price on the actual lander.

Blah blah blah. Another day, another person complaining about GD/AN. Don't like them? Then don't use them. Plain and simple. IMO: GD Lease-to-Own has been awesome for me! My last two LTO sales are worth thousands and my ultimate commission will be 5% for each deal. Dan was great, but it's gone now. Sucks, but we gotta deal with it. Smart domainers continue to test, reprice, and do research. Find out what works best!

Definitely, they're already THE RELIGION, that's why I asked if NAMECHEAP can go the DOMAIN AFTERMARKET path.

Any news on the SPACESHIP / Namecheap DOMAIN AFTERMARKET? Last I heard, they will already open the platform to everyone ( in a week's time, the time they made the statement).
