Most countries have some form of low level street "culture" - the difference is that most countries don't glamorize it in TV, movies and music. It's not something people aspire to, but something they hope to avoid. Even Kid Rock above - I know where he grew up, a nice place. Yet he needs to look like a tough guy to make his millions. It's a resume enhancer for most celebrities to get arrested, get addicted, get into trouble...
The US is way too accepting of (if not glamorizing) thuggish behavior, and I think it has an effect on society. It causes decay.
There are always going to be thugs and lowlifes, but when they take over the street like that and twerk on top of emergency vehicles you have a real problem.
Now why would a guy who grew up here want to pretend he grew up in the ghetto, or in a trailer in the mud? Screwed up priorities.
