Hey everyone.
I have some questions about sedo auctions.
1. Can you put a minimum/starting bid on a domain?
2. If not, can you decline a bid?
3. If someone is the highest bidder, is he comitted to buying the domain? Or can (s)he just cancel the bid?
Thank you.
Hi,
1. Can you put a minimum/starting bid on a domain?
There are three types of amounts that can be used to indicate the pricing of a domain through Sedo's marketplace: a Price, a Minimum Offer, and/or a Reserve Price. Reserve Prices are only applicable for domains being auctioned.
Price
Depending on the listing type, a Price is a non-binding amount that indicates what a seller expects for the sale of a domain. For domains listed as "Make Offer," the Price serves as an invitation for buyers to places offers, and is not binding for a seller. For domains listed as "Fixed Price," the Price is the only amount that needs to be entered; any buyer who clicks the "Buy Now" button on the offer page will be bound to purchase the domain for that amount.
Sellers cannot price a domain above 10,000 USD unless they first order a Sedo Domain Appraisal for the domain. Our Customer Care staff can manually change the price at the seller's request once the appraisal has been completed. This limit also applies to Minimum Offers.
The Price entered for a domain will appear on the offer page as either "Seller's price expectation" or "Sales Price," depending on the listing type.
Minimum Offer
A Minimum Offer is a price threshold that must be met for a seller to receive offers; it indicates that a seller will not sell the domain for less than that amount. A minimum offer disables offers below a certain amount and can be used even if a Price has not been entered. If the "Fixed Price" option has been selected, however, entering a Minimum Offer is not possible.
A Minimum Offer is not displayed on the domain's offer page unless a buyer places an offer below the set amount.
Reserve Price
A Reserve Price is the lowest amount at which a seller is willing to sell a domain through an auction. A seller may suggest a Reserve Price when applying for one of Sedo's Premium/Themed Auction Events. The amount of the Reserve Price is not disclosed to bidders, but they will see that an auction has a Reserve Price and whether or not the reserve has been met. If bidding does not meet the Reserve Price, the seller is not obligated to sell the domain.
Only domains that are accepted for a Premium/Themed Auction Event are eligible for a preselected Reserve Price.
Important: Entering a Minimum Offer is not the same as entering a Reserve Price for an auction. Any changes made through My Sedo > Domain Management will not affect an Auction Event application for the domain.
2. If not, can you decline a bid?
If the domain name is listed as “Make Offer,” the following options are available to the Seller when ANY offer is made:
Accept the Offer
If the Seller accepts an offer, an agreement will be reached and the transfer process will begin.
Place a Counter-Offer
If the Seller places a counter-offer, the buyer will receive an email notification. The buyer will then be able to log into their Sedo account to respond by accepting or placing a new counter-offer.
Matching a previous offer or counter-offer does not lead to a sales agreement. Either party will have to use the “accept” option, when available, to finalize the agreement.
Start an Auction
When a seller receives an offer on a domain, he/she is able to start an auction within five (5) days. If the seller chooses this option, the buyer's original offer will serve as the reserve price. Therefore, the seller accepts the bid unless a bid for a higher amount is made by the end of the auction. The auction end time is scheduled for seven (7) days following the placement of the buyer's original offer.
If a domain name is listed on our marketplace as “Fixed Price” (or “Buy Now” on the Offer page), an agreement is reached upon accepting the amount that the domain name is listed for.
Sedo asks sellers to honor price expectations they have listed; however, they may still negotiate upwards for domains listed as “Make Offer.”
3. If someone is the highest bidder, is he committed to buying the domain? Or can (s)he just cancel the bid?
In a public auction, the highest bidder is obligated to purchase the domain at the final bid price. If the buyer does not follow through with their obligations in the domain transaction, their Sedo account will be closed.

Is their not some rule about fake stats and promoting parked pages?
Hello,
The domain in question is not parked with us. It is listed in our marketplace as a complete website. The stats provided are the stats to the website for the website listing.
